Yuck Fou
Okay, so for a while now my firefox just mysteriously stopped displaying any media besides images what-so-ever. It won't play sound files in web pages, it won't play videos in the broswer, it won't play quicktime links, and it won't play anything Flash. I really have no idea what the hell happened all of the sudden, as it was working fine before. I re-installed, and even upgrated to Firefox Beta 1.5 and it's still not working. Double-you Tee Eff. Edit: I've been reduced to opening IE to watch sh*t like this. Someone save me from this hellhole.
SWEETSAPRIK
Is it possible that you didn't upgrade your plug-ins? If so go here. Although I remember getting messages at the top of the screen saying something about a missing plug-in. PяopagaиdaIиc.
Yuck Fou
Haha, well f*ck. I just disabled ad-block and it started working all over again. Oops. Can someone tell me why ad-block would block all that media though? I know I didn't change any settings.
Yuck Fou
I might as well ask something else seeing as how this topic has become useless. How do I get rid of this? It's got to be spyware, as there's no Change or Remove buttons.. and I don't recognize it at all. I have a sh*tload of spyware on my computer, but Ad-Aware, SpyDoctor, Spyware Search and Destroy etc. don't pick anything up. I know it's there though, because I get pop-ups every f*cking where. There's a vonage ad on the top of this page replacing the google ads, for instance. If I were to use HijackThis and post what I find could someone separate the "okay" from the bad? Edit: Sorry for the double post. SWEETSAPRIK
As for the ads on top of the GTAF page, they're usually google adsense, but every now and then I get a vonage too, not often, but it happens so I don't think that's a problem. (Unless I'm infected too. ) The adblock could be blocking some of that media if it shares a url or other line that's blocked by adblock. Click: Tools > AdBlock > Preferences and see if any of the lines in the filter were in any of the blocked media urls. I always wanted to know what line blocks the google adsense ad, but I don't see the offending line in the filter. Since blocking it costs tank money I leave adblock off when on GTAF, if I knew which line to delete I would. As for the Hijackthis log, yeah, I can't, but I've seen wolf sift through that crap a lot of times. I personally only know what should and shouldn't be on mine, but when I see other peoples logs I don't recognize things that they need, whereas wolf would. As for how to get rid of that, I'd wait for someone smart. I would personally just explore around my system until I found it, then I'd delete it, entering safe mode if needed, but again, your best bat is to wait for somebody smarter than me. PяopagaиdaIиc. Yuck Fou
Yeah, I've been looking but no conventional methods seem to work worth a sh*t. I sifted through my HijackThis log and came up with a few that looked kind of off, but I'm sure they're normal too. I know I'm infected, because I get pop-ups like hell... even on GTAF with FireFox. I just can't find it. Edit: Yes, I've tried scanning with at least 3 programs in Safe Mode... didn't seem to make a difference. It'll give you a better idea of what's supposed to be there and what isn't. I've managed to get rid of a fair bit of sh*t using it.

SWEETSAPRIK
I always wanted to know what line blocks the google adsense ad http://pagead*.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js If it was that easy I'd have done it by now, but that line doesn't appear in the filter. Nor does just "pagead" appear in the filter. Now "google" appears once, but it's part of a string that I'm unsure of. This is the filter I'm using. Now if "|" is being used to separate "google" from the other things in that string, then I should be able to remove "|google" and have the filter still function the way it should, minus the blocking of the adsense banner. But without being sure I'm wary of screwing with it, which is why I leave adblock off. Of course that's assuming that there isn't another part of that filter that would block it. Ah, sorry, I misread your post and thought you wished to block the Adsense banners. I'd tell you which line removes the Adsense banners from the filterset, but I'm not too familiar with Regexp and wouldn't want to hazard a wrong guess. Why do you need to remove it anyways? PSXtreme
Tom, my pc has had that MyWay thing on it since I got it. I'm pretty sure its a Dell thing, because before I even hooked the pc up to the internet, I went to remove a bunch of preinstalled crap that Dell put on there, and I couldn't get rid of that thing. I'd tell you which line removes the Adsense banners from the filterset, but I'm not too familiar with Regexp and wouldn't want to hazard a wrong guess. Why do you need to remove it anyways? Meh, I don't really need to remove it, but it doesn't bother me. It's one of the few ads that doesn't make a noticeable difference (to me anyway) in page loading time, it also doesn't (at least on the skin I use) ugly up the screen. And since it's apparently the site's main source of revenue I leave it be, every once in a while I actually click through if it brings up an interesting keyword. But my connection is so slow that when I load a news page for example, I can usually read the paragraph or so on the screen and close the window in the time it would normally take to load all the banners and ads. So GTAF is basically one of the only sites I don't want or need to adblock. So it's really just me being lazy. If I could remove whatever is blocking the adsense ad I'd never have to toggle adblock on or off. It's not even close to being a big deal though. PяopagaиdaIиc.
