Correct me if i am wrong but these are the two big gaming sites

personnally i love Gamespot and IGN just doesnt do it for me

i think gamespot has a more personal feel to it

with the video reviews, the hotspot and on the spot

i feel i know the ppl at gamespot , who are the funny ones who are the geeks

ign can feel quite soul less but it seems to get more exclusives than gamespot

i wonder what is your favourie and if it isnt one of the two then tell me what is

Gamespot Reviews are brilliant the video reviews are a great source of information and entertainment, especially when done by jeff or alex

Do you class Gamespy as IGN?

Cause I'd choose IGN, because of their game-specific coverage with the Planet network and the Vaults.

Gamespot seems more slick, magazine-like, but IGN have certainly caught up in that department. Gamespy seems more gamer-oriented, and I've been visiting them since they started.

i do agree gamespot doesnt have as good game specific coverage but for that i look to u forum guys and the fan sites obly the best ones tho

gamespots just a better produced site and gives a better general coverage for gamers wanting to know as much as the can on what is goin on like me

Gamespot. It has always made me want to go back. IGN on the other hand, kind of feels cold and unwelcoming.

Gamespot is good to look at, the reviews/previews are well done, and go into great levels of detail. Just overall, much better, in my eyes.

Gamespot > IGN

Thought, I goto IGN for their forums once in awhile... Along with gamefaqs.com

I've been going to IGN when people actually knew what it stood for.

Somebody tell me what it stands for without googling. tounge.gif

But yeah, Gamespot > IGN now.

IGN for me, no need to sign up to watch vids (unless I'm doign something wrong on gamespot?)

A lot of stuff streams for free without signing up.

Gamespot by far for these reasons,

-black background and light text is a great contrast

-harsh rating system, although they do over/underrate once in a while.

-less intrusive ads than ign

-it's a lot easier to find sh*t quickly on gamespot than it is on ign, at least to me it is.

I hate both of them. All the content restriction for paying customers only, and the f*cking banner ads everywhere. I'll get my game info elsewhere, thank you very much.

Before I had adblock, I couldn't stand Gamespot. Page would take ages to load and scrolling was annoying. Any whitespace they stick a f*cking flash ad with sound. Though IGN are almost as bad. Gamespots front-page was way too "heavy".

Got me an IGN insiders account. So I visit them. Though I do sometimes make a stop at GS.

Nowadays I'm trying to weigh up which magazines I really need to buy each month (I've a PS2, an Xbox, a GC and will shortly have a 360 in all probability), and during the summer months it's pretty few and far between. I often buy mags on the strength of supposed "game footage" and am regularly p***ed off by the lack of in-game footage as opposed to misleading CGI hyperbole.

So, I'm now looking to Gamespot and their free streaming trailors and reviews. Cheaper, and a damn site more honest than many mags - especially the official ones.

Oh, and as many have said, Gamespot's people are a personable lot, while IGN is more coldly efficient. I prefer the former. Gamespot for me.
