bigmike21
After I started to my mod my game with new vehicles and consequently changing things in cardmods.dat, carcols.dat, handling.cfg, vehicle.ide...etc..., the game now encounters an error when I exit the game to return to the desktop. It is one of those "error reports" that you can send to Microsoft. I've looked at the technical readout of the report, but it is just a bunch of hexidecimal values and coding. The title of the error report reads as follows.... AppName: gta_sa.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: gta_sa.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 003c47c1 Just curious, has anyone else had a similar crash after modding? Anyone know how to begin to troubleshoot this crash? The game runs fine (no crashes) but this crash is annoying because now it won't save a game either. Apparently this crash is affecting the save games too. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Here's my system specs if that makes any difference... GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah many people have reported this including myself, Vice City sometimes did this too so its probably just modding can cause some little problems this being one of them. nawty4ya
I had that problem too, still having it, but i know what's causing mine. It might be the same situation for you. Modding carcols.dat is known to cause this problem sometimes... dunno why . Try replacing your modded carcols.dat file with an unmodded one. Start the game, play for about a minute or so, then try exiting. Did that fix your crash? If it did, then now you'll know what to work at. bigmike21
Thanks guys. Yep...it's confirmed, the carcols.dat file was causing the crash. I replaced the file with an unmodded one and it doesn't crash when exiting. I won't even bother messing with that file, to me the colors of the cars are the least of my worries...I'd rather have the vehicles and the game run fine then worry about some new colors Thanks again. nawty4ya
Yeah, no sweat man, glad to be of help . I'm currently working on a carcols database that will have some radical new colors, and won't crash the game at exit. As soon as it's finished, I'll post it here.
