GTA Timeline

Does anyone know the correct order of all of the games as they take place and where abouts each game/story falls?

All I know is that GTA:LC Stories will be set before GTA3 in Liberty City.

This is the timeline:

rampage_ani.gif GTA Vice City...........................1986.............Miami

rampage_ani.gif GTA San Andreas.....................1992.............California(Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas)

rampage_ani.gif GTA Liberty City Stories............1998............New York

rampage_ani.gif GTA Advance...........................2000............New York

rampage_ani.gif GTA III....................................2001............New York

No, what fun is that? I like putting all the pieces together.

I could have sworn GTA Advance took place a year before LCS. I could be wrong, though.

Someone here made a complete timeline in order with all the main connecting storylines. It was the most comprehensive list I've ever seen on the subject. I'll see if I can find it.

Agent OOorange

I think GTA3 takes place in 2003.

(the Lips 106 DJ talks about Gary Schaffer being released from

Corruption charges. On the reporter's calender in manhunt, it shows the year

is 2003 so it probably gta3 takes place in 03 or 04.)

Thanks Saintdave. That was the timeline I was talking about. I guess Advance did take place after LCS. If you don't have Advance (which I do but don't play cause it sucks), read that storyline! It ties up a few loose ends from III, particularly 8-ball's condition.

And by the way, III takes place in 2001, which was current day when it was released.

Like hell we don't. All the other game specify exactly what year the game takes place. III's the only one that doesn't, so seeing that it was released in 2001, I'd say it takes place in 2001. It sure as hell didn't take place in 03 or 04.

I read an interview once with Dan Houser and he made some indications of when GTA3 is set. 'We have GTA3 in Liberty City, which is based in the new millenium...'

It was something like that, I have no idea where I read it, and it was quite a while ago. The interview was in build up to the release of San Andreas I believe.

Im a firm believer it was set in 2001, or just after the new millenium.

On this timeline, what is "the introduction" that comes before San Andreas? Is that literally just the opening sequence to SA and if so then why has it a dedicated section?

You should hav just gone to the san andreas boards and searched. No need to bump a 4 month old topic.

The introduction is a prequal to the SA game. It was origionally sold on a seprate CD, but on the new SA game it is included with it.

It's my topic and I'll bump if I want to, lol.

Not quite. If the answer to your question is already available through search, you really have no business posting at all, let alone in a 4 month dead topic.

The intro to SA is the start of the game as evidenced by the fact that the final moment of the cutscene has you starting off where you start off.

I have every business to post if I want to regardless of the age.

It's a forum, I can post whatever I want withing the guidelines and there are no guidelines stating you can't post on topics over a certain age.

If people don't want to reply due to disagreeing with my practices then that's fine and their decision.

Don't argue with me on this point as you will lose based on facts!

It's called bumping. It's basic forum netiquette. Those who circumvent it just to prove they can don't impress anybody. I think I have an idea of the rules AND how they're enforced wink.gif

But you fail to actually realise that I didn't just "bump" the topic to get more reply's!!!

What I actually did was post a continuation of the topic and ask for some answers based on previous posts.

So what if the topic is 4 months old, it doesn't make it any less valid than a topic posted yesterday.

And about the fact I could have searched another forum....................big deal!!! You give me a popular forum that has 100% unique posts with no repetition and I'll send you $1000 through the post (as I'm assuming you are of the US persuasion!).

The quote "It's my topic and I'll bump if I want to" was a little play on words of a famous song and was nothing more than a joke. You will be able to see through all of my posts that I have never "bumped" a topic just because people haven't answered me or because I want to keep the post going longer.........................otherwise I'd have just posted "bump"!!!
