What are your thoughts?

I think for sports games they should have a massive online tournament where you get put into teams and you only control 1 player...if you get what i mean....I know this would be really hard to do but it seamed like a cool idea.

Any other cool ideas about online gaming?

Yeah it actually sounds like a class idea, although i'd like to see it on consoles as I just cant handle Pc spaz pads. Perhaps an idea that could be brought into the next generation.

At the moment Pc gaming is moving more and more into the world of MMORPG's, online monthly fees bring in some nice revenue and the game can be released half finished with updates to follow. The only problem is that the games companys cant make the worlds more interesting and less repeitive and it isnt really down to current technology. They just dont try to make them interesting enough.

My idea would be to move a player to a variation of the same world after he has advanced oh so far in the story. But the technology has to better itself so the developers have less work to do and thats quite far off.

As for consoles it's looking good. If for once we can get a decent online system and ideally it'd be some wi-fi wireless broadband that you'd pay MS/Sony for then everyone would be able to get in on it but that wont come in the next generation.

original gangster

I like what they're doing with the nintendo DS online, wi-fi gaming online for free.

and PS3 looks to have great online too, no having to buy all the equipment, it's all in the console.

the football idea in the first post sounds alright, but it has its problems.

So you mean you control one player? So for football you could have 10 other playes from around the world on your side. And of course, 11 other random people for the other team. Sounds alright.

Honestly. I think it would suck.

It's not that easy to cover people/go out for long passes as a wide reciever/a lot of other sh*t when a computer isn't controlling your linebackers, wide recievers, safeties, corners etc... So you'd have to have some pretty talented mofos on your team to not suck ass. confused.gif

Prolly be a nightmare getting 10 together that could play "right".Even on a console,I can imagine the myriad of tech problems as well.

Sure would be nice though.43 cars in a NASCAR race.200 players teeing off in golf tourney.Trading one of your 10 team mates cuz they suck.....

I have no idea how but something needs to be done about the trash talking,"You suck","I'm the greatest" type players online. They are annoying as heck and can ruin things for others.

Online cheating is a major problem also that seems to have no answer as of now.

If Motor City Online was any example, online gaming has great potential, as long as the game is hard enough that idiots just give up.

each person controlling one player on a football feild would suck major ass, because 5 people would have to be linesmen. and would always want to make the big hit or the big stop, so they would leave the offensive line. it would be boring just playing as a linesman for half an hour, or any position. such as a receiver. the less catches get thrown your way, the more it sucks.

43 players in a nascar race would be f*cking awesome, but in those 43, there is massive potential for those jackass players who spin arround at the bigining of the race to see what kind of crashes they could make. every race would turn into a demolition derby rather than a race

I guess the only real downside to the one man one player football idea is you may not always see a lot of action, obviously someone wouldnt be the goalkeeper either.

The Matrix. It's heading for a matrix-like expeirience. Whole worlds with hundreds of thousands of people all playing the same game at the same time. It would be a FPS, driving, adventure, Sports, RPG, sim, RTS, with a dash of resource managment. I'm not saying it would be virtual reality, just a Massively Multiplayer First Person Shooting Real Time Strategic Driving Sports Role Playing Game, or MMFPSRTSDSRPG. Of course it will be produced and published by EA.

What about for the poor schmucks that get stuck playing offensive lineman?

Would there be full rosters? Like one person for each position, or would you switch between lines? That would suck because what would kickers do all game.

yup colgate.gif

well, not really, but there are demo derby games. i remember playing nascar 04 with 4 friends and we couldn't even get through a race before somebody lost control, gave up, turned around, and tried to hit the people trying to race. with 43 people, half of the pack would be traveling backwards.

Nintendo DS WiFi for free? You must have mistaken the DS for the PSP-- The DS requires you to buy a wifi card.
