Modding carcols... need help

Hey guys, how's it going with you all? I'm from the Island of Jamaica, and I've been a fan of GTAForums.com for quite some time. This is my first post on here, and i don't know if this question has been asked before, but if it has, please direct me to the relevant section.

I've been having a go at modding GTA San Andreas, and I've been loving it inlove.gif. I recently did a mod of the carcols.dat file, adding a few extra lines of my own, and I came up with some great looking colors.

The problem I have though is this... whenever I start the game, it plays normally, but as soon as I try to exit to the windows desktop, I get a black screen, and an error message saying that gta_sa.exe needs to close, and if I want to send a report to M$ dontgetit.gif. This not a major problem, since the game plays great, but exiting and ending up at the error screen all the time is hair raisingly annoying nervous.gif.

I did some back tracking, and found out the the problem is my modded carcols file.

Is there anything special I gotta do after I add my own lines to carcols.dat? Can someone point me to a tutorial for modding this file?

Thank U...

Usually if the game works and obviously the colours you've added do then your doing that right as the game won't tend to start if it detects a faulty carcols file. Quite frankly my game does the same and yes its annoying, my carcols is modified too but works. I'd say SA just doesn't seem to handle alot modding that well, I dunno what could be done save for reinstalling the game I am afraid.

Oh and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the reply GTA3Freak. What I don't get is that when I add other modders' lines to carcols, I don't get the error message after i exit the game. That makes me wonder if I'm the one doing something wrong dontgetit.gif.

I could take a look at your carcols file and see if there's anything that I think is not right, so yeah if you want just cut and paste your carcols.date file here.
