Cran.
I was riding by Hamiltion Holden today, and saw the new Holden Viva in the back. Viva is based on the J200 Daewoo Lacetti, which actually looked half decent. My impressions: Ewwwww... It just looks ugly to me, looks too nineties. The shape needs to mature by being more 'sharp' and looking something a bit like the Astra. The front looks like it just points out too much to complete the hatch look. Front looks like it belongs on a bigger car. What do you think about this car?
tuff_luv_capo
Well if every car was made to look awesome we would start making the less awesome looking cars our bad looking cars. Just face it, not every car is going to look super-fantastic and that car right there to me looks totally fine. Do you know how many cars look worse? Variety is the spice of life. Cran.
I know, but the fact is it's a Daewoo. I'd rather stay with the Euro improted cars.
tuff_luv_capo
Then stay with euro imported cars? I don't know what to tell you. Did someone buy you this car as a present and now you are mad? Don't get me wrong, I love a good rant- but the only thing you could do here is make someone feel guilty about owning one. I bet there are a lot of people who like and will buy that car, and the last thing they need is people telling them their car is less valuable to them because they don't like the design of a car that looks similar/ where it comes from. I had that problem with my car. (Again, Holden is invloved). People would say, "Boy it sucks pontiac had to ruin the name of GTO buy rebadging an aussie car." Like I'm supposed to say, "Yea, you're right. Ima go trade it in for a focus." I usually just say, "Uhh, thanks?" Because I can't really take heat from a guy who's saying this outside the door of his escort. That's why I made my avatar, because I don't care about the badge or the fuss. I<love>AMG
So confusing....I though that Daewoo Lacetti is actually Chevrolet Lacetti. Yeah, we have both of them here in EU...
Dalpura
I know, but the fact is it's a Daewoo. I'd rather stay with the Euro improted cars. Get out! I f*cking hate Euro imports badged as Holdens. Because in the area when I work, people quite like their expensive-ish sort of cars, and of course "but Australian" and get an Astra, or a Vectra. And their sh*t the work on. This car, however, being a rebadged Daewoo is awesome. Daewoos are great to work on. But yeah, it just looks like a decent small car to me. Looks like Holden are getting their hands on some more small cars due to recent petrol prices.
GTA3Freak-2001
I don't see how a new hatchback fits into Holden's range, they already have hatches being the Barina, the Astra hatchback so to me its silly. I understand the whole petrol thing but really I don't see the point in bringing in yet another GM family car. I just wish Holden would do something of their own design instead of always relying on other GM family vehicles. Ok it comes in a Sedan and Wagon too, meh I don't like it since I've always hated Daewoo's and the hatch model looks exactly like a Daewoo. kevin2006rhs
I dunno, it looks like a decent econo-car to me. From what I understand they dont sell Daewoo badged cars anymore, atleast in the USA. Their sales kinda sucked and they had a weird ass look to them. Anyways, the rebadge looks good and it looks like it will fit in fine. The Chevy Aveo, on the other hand, is the American Chevy version of a Daewoo. I just say it is ugly and slow. I mean damn, it is one thing to be slow or ugly but not both. But seriously, what do you expect when a huge carmaker owns a brand of cars. You are going to have sister cars, rebadged cars, and reskinned/rebadged cars. The Opel, Vaxhual, and Holden are filled with them; as are Chevy, Ponitac, Cadillac, and Buick
acdchardrocker
i see the point but holdens anit meant to look good because they just plain dont GO THE FORD!!!!
kevin2006rhs
Nah...I like Chevy more than Ford. But not by much. And I never said that the holden looked good, I just said it looked better than the real Daewoos or the Chevy Aveo. In all seriousness, holdens are nice lookin cars, i wish I had a Holden Commodore, Ute, Crewman Cross 8 or SS, or Morano. They have that edgy design that Cadillac trys to pull off but doesnt do it as good as Holden

Cran.
mate the ford focus is a 100 times better then the Barina That's opinon, don't bring it into this. It's funny, because ford stoped the production of the Laser, which was a great selling car, and replaced it with the imported Focus. Sales have been complete sh*t for the Focus, great move Ford. They keep going on about it went great in Europe. Welcome to Australia You're just saying that because it's a Ford. I'm a holden fan, but I think this sucks. Anyway, the car is so-so, but I don't think it belongs with the Holdens, hence my hate for it. It guess it's better money wise since the Barinas cost more due to being imported from Europe. Holden should have made their own designed thing on this platform instead of this imo. I guess it'll be like a chicks car. The sedan might look better than this, because as I said the front looks like it belongs to a sedan/bigger car. Daewoo went out of buisness, so this is a bad move for Holden. If they didn't bring anysales as a brand, why would they be any better with a more respected, bigger brand? @kevin looked the same here, and they did go out of buisness here as i said, so they went out of buisness there? kevin2006rhs
I think daewoo is taking advantage of companies rebadging abilities and dropping their own line. I dont think they are going to come back to sell their own cars but I do think they have a future in selling thier cars to private companies so they can claim it as thier own. GTA3Freak-2001
More bad news Cran, it seems the Corsa based Barina is now going to get replaced with Holden badged Daewoo Kalos's and the Vectra to a Daewoo Magnus

avito coleone
I must say the holden crew are starting to loose it in my opinion. Thats why I am proud to be forgetting the lion and the blue and getting in on the mini-trucking scene with a 90-95 toyota hilux, it is going to look so awesome.... Ahhh

Still, the hatchback is fugly. Dammit, i've seen pictures of the Magnus, and it's weird.
Cran.
Sorry for the bump, anyway I went by Hamilton Holden.. Rear is a Mazda3 copy, front still looks weird (alot like a Ford Cugar?), interior looks nice, and the side looks weird (Didn't have time to get a 3/4 pic though.) If the headlights were alot sharper, the rear was more like a traditonal hatchback, it would be alot better.

Touge
Doesn't look too bad IMO. It is only a small-car market contender man. Nothing to rant about really. And beside's. I don't see Holden giving up on the Commodore and HSV range any time soon. So you have nothing to complain about really. You're favourite (assumption only) manufacturer is expanding it's target audience. That can only be a good thing. BTW, I'd love a VZ Clubsport R8. LS2 6-speed please At least the VZ range has a better interior. Everything pre-VZ felt so god damn cheap inside. You lean your knee on the door or something and they creak like hell. Such low-grade cheap-ass plastics.
Cran.
I just find that these Dae-oldens don't fit in with the Holden range at all. The euro-sourced cars did. Yeah, I want a clubsport too And VY has the same interior as VZ BTW.

Holden should bring in a version of the Vauxhall Vectra VXR if they decide to make it. That'd be awesome apart from the fact it's FWD. Damn it!!
