blackwings
whats the fastest known time from 0-100% - im working on it right now, im hoping to complete the game in under 35 hours of gameplay - any tips? heres my gameplan: currently im at 45% with right around 16 hours of play, ive got a good grasp on the map and have just tried to do as much as i can with as little traveling as i can, picking up collection items on my way to other places, etc - suggestions? Dodge Boy City
Just keep going!! Don't stop to mess about with anything, just drive as fast as possible, and don't get distracted. I don't think there's any order to anything in - as long as you get 100%.
Xander_guy
I'm assuming your doing this all legit than? No codes or anything? Because that would help it to move along faster... But some advice would be to not stop to go on dates with gfs, kill millie the first second you get, never stop to get new clothes, haircuts, or tattoos, eat what liitle you can to survive, don't go to the gym, try to make sure you always have a pretty fast car to use to get from one point to another, also save after every mission maybe? I know it'd be alot of saves but if you screw up on the next mission and die or something you can just restart and go back to the time you had before you did the mission. Again, I know it would just be like an obnoxious amount of times to save the game, it would work though, i'd never do it though, lol!!!

(also, yeah, totally legit)

pdescobar
[...A]lso save after every mission maybe? I know it'd be alot of saves but if you screw up on the next mission and die or something you can just restart and go back to the time you had before you did the mission. Again, I know it would just be like an obnoxious amount of times to save the game, it would work though, i'd never do it though, lol!!! In some ways, this could lead to abuse of the system; the person with the best gameplay time could wind up being the one who spent the most actual time and effort in replaying each mission to ensure a fast time unless there was some limit on safe house visits. As such, looking at Days Passed in Game might be more interesting since you are "penalized" 6 hours for every save; that would force one to risk doing several things between saves and make reloading less attractive. Another idea is to simply pick some arbitrarily low maximum for safehouse visits turning the "contest" into an Iron-man-like competition. Say, who can reach 100% (or storyline completion) the fastest with only 50, or 25, or 10 saves allowed. One could also envision a contest of who can reach 100% or storyline completion with the fewest number of saves although this suffers from the opposite abuse method of simply leaving the game paused while you sleep... I'd never bother running in such races because playing for speed is alien to my particular play style and I'd almost certainly hate it. I just looked at the game I played where I did only the storyline (beating End of the Line with 45.45% completion) just to see if I could without paying any attention to game play time and it was more than twice the number matt27689 posted (18:03 if you're curious.) blackwings
im confused as to how saving your game habitually would 'in some ways, lead to abusing the system' (?) i thought that was the whole point - i understand however, that if im only saving to replay missions i fail, for the sake of a low total time, that i could end up playing alot more, however, this isnt my first time through the game - sure, ive screwed some things up and had to redo them, making my ACTUAL gameplay longer than my recorded gameplay - ive also sat with the game paused while i reviewed snapshot locations during courier and taxi missions (so far, the snapshots are the only thing ive gotten all of) all of this is one of the reasons i wish GTA had an autosave system (where you didnt lose your weapons), it would make certain the 250+ hours of gameplay R* promised early on
pdescobar
im confused as to how saving your game habitually would 'in some ways, lead to abusing the system' (?) i thought that was the whole point - Saving frequently in and of itself is not an abuse; in fact it is a very smart thing to do. Games freeze, power goes out, and bad things happen and having a save to go back to is helpful. The potential for abuse comes from the frequent reloading of those saves in order to minimize the mission times. It is really only an issue in a contest or race such as the one being discussed -- for normal gameplay there is no abuse issue at all. i understand however, that if im only saving to replay missions i fail, for the sake of a low total time, that i could end up playing alot more, however, this isnt my first time through the game - sure, ive screwed some things up and had to redo them, making my ACTUAL gameplay longer than my recorded gameplay - ive also sat with the game paused while i reviewed snapshot locations during courier and taxi missions (so far, the snapshots are the only thing ive gotten all of) I'm simply pointing out that the save and reload ability of the game makes any "race" of longtime gameplay somewhat difficult to accurately judge. As quoted above, you have noticed this as well, so I'm just trying to make sure you are on the lookout for such discrepencies when comparing your time played to others. all of this is one of the reasons i wish GTA had an autosave system (where you didnt lose your weapons), it would make certain the 250+ hours of gameplay R* promised early on The girlfriend bonuses definitely help in regard to keeping your weapons and is a step in the right direction. ATK
I think that you could do somthing like memorize where most of the tags horse shoes and snapshots are to make it quicker. And also I think that you should save before missions that you know will be an absolute bitch to complete. There is no sense in saving before simple missions you know that you could beat. And also if you keep having to load your game the clock is still ticking no timr revers or anything. And also you can do things like save the vehicles that yo need crane that arent parked anywhere before hand so that you wont have to go looking for them. And on a last not maybe you could go through the story missions before you start you time attack so that you could go through them with ease. (unless you have the gudie book?) Plaka
I started a New Game today and have just saved at the 1st Desert Mission Time: 6h00m I didn't do the Driving School / Zero's missions / Wang's Autos and have passed all Missions first time, no: Busted / Wasted / 1 haircut / no tat's / no weapons purchased ... I can't believe I'll make 7h30m to End Of The Line. BTW I don't use any Cheats or Trainers so I get around using the vehicles available to me. I have saved quite a bit in SF, those missions really piss me off sometimes failing for stupid reasons. Anyway for anyone interested: The STATS @ blackwings 80% in 26 hours WTG Re. the Double posts xox_vanzant_xox is referring to 1 post after another, look at 4/5 above this one you posted 2 times ina row when you should have EDITED no biggie Edited September 21, 2005 by Plaka
