Budmulla
Ive recently seen some dramas in the forums with regard to some recent bannings, and some mentions of people not liking conversions and stuff and it kinda all makes me laugh and bewilders me. Im just a casual gamer, and ive recently got into downloading a few extra cars and seeing what else is available out there for any of the gta titles. One car i wanted for the collection was the general lee... i grew up with the show and yeah just wanted the car.. i signed up somewhere a month or more ago and downloaded it ... i then went to find some help on installing iot recently and just found a trail of drama. I just wanted a car ... i dont really care who made it or how they got it to work in the game ... im just damn thankfull that they did !! I recently downloaded a holden monaro hsv gts which i think was converted from an old nfs game.... again i was damn happy that i could get this car as there arent many australian cars available for download. Ive even started to learn how to make models so i could maybe oneday build a HQ monaro.. and im shure along the way id probally try o mangle an exiting version or a similar shaped car to get the effect. But i see this sorta thing is frowned upon. I can understand that making scratch built models is where the real sh*t is at , but gee if theres no alternbative ie a pre exisiting scratch built model wouldnt a conversion still server its purpose? On the other hand if its a legal isssue ... ie the posting of materals that have been obtained from a source that has a pre exisiting copyright i could fully understand.... but for it to be a rule just becaue some people consider the convertors as cheaters or something is just kinda a lil childish .... isnt it about the cars??? I dont care how i obtain them in game and i shure dont care how i obtain them outta game!!! lol And also the whole banning thing was kinda funny to watch..... as is the problem wih a lot of forums some peope are made mods and it just kinda goes to there head ...the person that you where a fellow newbie wth turns and stabs ya in the back just because he has an extra lil brownie point lol ...really this sorta stuffs a joke... But the funniet thing seen in passing was the little arsekissing gimp that appears in a lot of forums... ya know the ones ... they have 2 stars and they butt kiss n suckup tryin to get more just so they can maybe oneday be a fellow powertripper lollol Butt seriously this guy Yuk Fou must surely get a special prize for his display of butt kissing finese. heres some quotes "Haha. God, ash... you just went from one of those mods that only comes to mind when I see you (which is rarely), to one of my favorites." Yuck Fou high fives THIS I THE BIGGEST DISPLAY OF BUTT KISSING ive ever seen... and it made me sick! Then if that wasnt enough he then procded to post a chat log from i asummed to be a private conversation with people whom im assumed he was meant to be mates with .. this is also worthy of a stab ya mates the back award. Shocking displays .. shure makes ths place look abit tarnished... well at lest to ths passig observer But i also didenjoy it in a soap opera kinda way.. Good day all Chiil people chill lololol Edited September 19, 2005 by Budmulla

Demarest
Nicey nice! Boiling it down and keeping it simple. I like you like that. Good for you. I have no intentions in getting involved in the war that will invariably occur, but had to let you know there was applause just the same. I think it's good of you to share your view. But surely you understand that where fanfare is king, the truth be nothing more than a circus magnet. Not your fault though.
SeaNorris.
but for it to be a rule just becaue some people consider the convertors as cheaters or something is just kinda a lil childish .... isnt it about the cars??? No one is considering them 'cheaters' infact, they want more Scratch Made material, not someones 'work' that they put 2mins into converting I can understand that making scratch built models is where the real sh*t is at , but gee if theres no alternbative ie a pre exisiting scratch built model wouldnt a conversion still server its purpose? It would yes, only they need permission from every person involved in the model. And also the whole banning thing was kinda funny to watch..... as is the problem wih a lot of forums some peope are made mods and it just kinda goes to there head ... This will be the turning point of this post, all the Silver fanboys and such will come in, no doubt this'll be locked. Anyway, you can call me a suck up to the mods, but the fact is i am not. Otter
I've always been a supporter of conversions; not for conversions from another videogame (as that is copyrighted media) but conversions from other modders (with the proper credit) and conversions from free media forms like Dalpura, etc. This is because (simply, and somewhat contrived) a) I feel any modder worth his or her rocks should be releasing work under the CREATIVE COMMONS, and b) Modding, by definition, is "Modifying" that which already exists. I know everyone disagrees with me, but in a perfect world, we'd all be building these lego blocks and trading them freely. Anyhow, I digress. If your true intention is to come in here begging for your buddy to be unbanned, well that's a shame. The mods are gods here, and that's all there is to it. Simply put, if you don't like it... get the f*ck outta here and don't let the screen door hit your ass on the way out. Tom's just a dude that gets a kick out of the ban stick. Maybe it's because he's completely f*cking sociopathic, like I am, and love to see a member get all holier than thou and then BANNED TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL. Some of my favorite mods in the past were quite good at that. *ahem
GT-1
I hope you will take time to read through the Mod Showroom Rules that have recently been updated/pruned here, as guidance. As a member of staff who frequents the areas in question I'll make a few comments on first the Mod Showroom Rules. If a member is looking to get into GTA Modding specifically since this is a GTA Forum you mention how they may want to convert vehicles from other games as a way to get started. Learning how to extract the necessary files from one game not GTA related is not really a way of starting to learn GTA modding. Modifying existing GTA cars possibly from past of present versions would be more helpful in my opinion, they can strip it down and re-model sections etc. or even make small texture changes. Personally I see that as been quite helpful, you have the file formats and working with them will give you a good idea for future references in which it is hoped the member in question would move onto scratch modeling. Taking cars from companies/games such as EA/NFS could cause problems with EA not wanting their models to be imported into other games. There is little to no chance that you would get permission to port an EA vehicle into an R*^ game. This is clearly stated in the Mod Showroom Rules. You may just want the car, but there are problems to arise which need to be thought of. Moving onto converting other modeler’s vehicles possibly from previous GTA's or from other modded games. This can be done, the original author simply needs to sign up and give permission and then there are no problems. In the past we tried to devise a way between various staff and members who frequent the area to provide a suitable way for authors to prove they had got permission. Throughout my time in the GTA Community there has been a large amount of mod theft from various members, ripping parts from others scratch made work, ripping whole cars, hand made textures etc. considering the amount of time that is put into creating a scratch made vehicle only for someone to rip it and claim it to be their own is more than just a little annoying. People have been converting cars without permission on mass and getting too much credit for work that they have not done. Due to the fact that the original author has to now post, it gives the original author more credit and recognition of what he first made which is quite right. Before the rules were brought in the converters in some cases where more highly thought of than the scratch made modelers, which in my opinion and a large amount of others opinion he incorrect after all they did not take the time to build it from scratch. I've seen excessive comments regarding new rules that other staff members have brought in and personally I fail to see why in most cases. It boils down to a few points really. Scratch made modelers should get the recognition they deserve not a converter, yes? One does not continually want to see a car converted from game to game; there are problems with doing this if it work of a company. It will help stop mod thieves; we don't want mod thieves to be part of the community do we? Lastly it does allow new people to the modding community to get a grip of the ropes by editing R*^ cars and others' cars with permission, and then encourages them to move onto scratch made modeling, which is hoped to be many peoples aim. There are more than enough people willing to help out new members to scratch made modeling here, whether it’s a simple edit of a R* model or starting a scratch made vehicle. Oh and I agree about Yuck Fou.

SWEETSAPRIK
Interesting first and (so far) only post. I'm sure you aren't in anyway connected to this argument. Suction Testicle Man
Interesting first and (so far) only post. I'm sure you aren't in anyway connected to this argument. You just came to share your unbaised opinion. That's nice. Haha, I so second that. @topic starter - It used to be about the cars. It ceased being about the cars when every man and his dog wanted a slice of the action, and decided to make a name for themselves giving the people exactly what they want with as much effort as it takes to sh*t axel grease. Leave the releasing of cars to those that know how to do it. Btw, have you ever considered joining these forums? If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated. Mark
haha STM nice one Those who are still about the cars ARE the scratch modelers. Imagine, you've just spent the past few weeks of your spare time making a f*cking awesome model, only for either some convertor newbie to convert it to another game in about an hour, or some *ahem* Ukranian n00b selling it for his own gain. Its like someone stealing your h/w before class, and handing it in under their name. You're gonna be mighty pissed off. The number of times excellent modders have left the scene because of rippers/converters is too high its unbelieveable. GTAForums, being (I think) the largest GTA fan site on the internet, has decided to set an example by introducing a scheme to stop this. Only a drop in the ocean, but if others follow by this forums example, it can make a difference. For this reason, we must stick by the so-called "Nazi" mods, and for this reason I completely support the action of the moderators involved. Why bitch about it? With all the rippers making the people who matter, then people who make the cars in the 1st place, the scratch modellers, quit the game, soon there'll be no more lovely cars for them to rip. And at the end of the day, what would you rather have in your game? An excellent model produced by a great modeller who knows what they're doing, or a buggy convert which most likely won't be scaled correctly, nor will its style suit the game...? - GTAuron
