How to Recruit Gang Members.

Vin.

Recommended Posts

Now, with the amount of times a thread about this has come up isn't even possible to count on both hands, so I've decided to make this simple little guide for the people who don't know to read and follow.

The PS2, X-Box and PC versions, all have different ways to recruit gang members, as you'd expect, so I'll list all three here so It's easy to understand for everyone.

Playstation 2 Version

To recruit fellow gang members on the Playstation 2 version of San Andreas, you need to click and hold the R1 button ( R1 ), while clicking and holding this, press the up button on the D-Pad ( up ). You have now selected one of your Grove Street "homies" to go along with you and go do your business. To "un-recruit" gang members, simply hold down the up ( up ) button until that member has left. Also, pressing up will call the gang members to you, and pressing down will make them stay put.

X-Box Version

As with the Playstation 2 version, It's quite the same to recruit with the X-Box version. In the same manner, lock onto the prefered gang member, and press the up button on the D-Pad, just like the PS2. As with the PS2 version, simply hold the up button on the D-Pad to un-recruit the member. Also, pressing up will call the gang members to you, and pressing down will make them stay put.

PC Version

The PC version would probably be the most simple way of recruiting in the San Andreas world, and to do so, all you need to do, is aim your mouse crosshairs at one of your green grove street gangsters, press the right mouse button and press the "G" or "H" button on your keyboard. There you go, you've got your own gang to go around with you and help you finish missions, etc.

Please note: The controls may be different if you have changed the buttons around. As with the other two versions, hold "G" to un-recruit them.b

Hopefully this will slow the amount of threads about the recruiting aspect of the game.

I would like to add that you can press either "G" or "H" to recruit gang members for PC version.

Yeah, I didn't add that because It's more of the "Hold Back" button. Anywho, I added it anyway. wink.gif

Thanks Ghost, It's there to help the people, I just hope people actually use it. I can see there are going to be more threads asking about it still. confused.gif

You could also mention that it may be different on the PC if you have changed some of the controlls.

Well obviously it'll be different if you changed the controls on the PC, however with huge number of possiblities it's best to just list what defaults are.

Now mentioning that this can be found in the key config under On Foot "Group CTRL Forward" and "Group CTRL Back".

No Escape?

No. GSF remain green, Ballas remain purple, and Las Santos Vagos remain yellow.

I appreciate that you used the search engine like so many new members fail to do, though. icon14.gif

No, unless there is a way to edit the files, but I'm not the PC expert so, sorry. confused.gif

And I suggest changing your signature, it seems to be over the limits.

No Escape?

...What?

Can you try typing in English, maybe? I mean, you won't be dissed for dropping the stupid ass "gangsta" talk here. You're more likely to be ridiculed if you keep it up.

Somehow I don't know what particuler way of doing it. I would go here to ask someone if they could do it. Maybe one will help you out. It is all about looking and seeing available options. Like Snooker!

Thanks Vin, although I usually do the recruiting without any weapons. Some of them react if you point a weapon at them colgate.gif

I just right click to target the one I want to recruit, then a 'G' will recruit them

To whom it may concern;

Thank you so much for your info on forming gangs on a P.C. for GTASA. The main book I could find was written for X-Box I think, and I couldn't find a corresponding manual for P.C. I was stuck on Sweet's Girl, and I read in a walkthru, you could bring gang members with you to help. Maybe now I can progress with the game. There are several other functions assigned to X-box pads and keys that I don't have on my P.C. Where can I find a complete guide for P.C? biggrin.gif I have only been a P.C. owner for one year now, but I love it like nothing else, and GTASA has totally blown my mind! I only have an H.P. 5220us laptop and it does a marginal job of running GTASA, but your help has been greatly appreciated. Thanks again,

Mike O,Brein.

you cant recruit gang members during missions?

You're half correct.

During some missions, you can recruit Grove members; during other missions, you cannot.

Of course you can smile.gif

(1) The mission when you take back Ceasars house.

(2) Grove 4 Lyfe.

(3) the mission when you attack the graveyard with Sweet.

(4) Beat down on b dub.

(5) Doberman.

(6) Homecoming.

(7) Riot.

Those are the missions that you can recruit homies.

If you do the fly off the map glitch, the territories it brews will not be confiscated upon completion of Green Sabre. You can then go to those areas, recruit Grove members during missions such Ice Cold Killa. The problem is, the massive loss of default territories will dent your respect even though the bar remains the same. So you will have to increase it conventionally first, which is quite annoying with the misleading bar.

This comes too late for me. I remember my first playthrough. When I did "Los desperados", I wasn't able to complete it at first because I was asked to recruit homies, and it had been so long since I was taught it that I had forgotten how to do it. I needed some help from a friend to complete it.

(6) Homecoming.

(7) Riot.

Those are the missions that you can recruit homies.

I doubt you can recruit homies in "Home Coming", you don't have territories at that point of the game, so you shouldn't have anyone to recruit.

And why you're allowed to recruit people in "Riot"? All you have to do in that mission is drive Sweet to Ganton. No need to recruit anyone.

Actually, you can recruit homeboys for the Home Coming mission. Hint: create a glitched territory. Edited by King Andreas

I meant when you take over territories. confused.gif in Riot.

And in homecoming there is a checkered green shirt homie, you'll see him in the cutscene just bump into him at the house and boom! smile.gif
