segosa
Depends. First of all you need a server to host the channel on. I doubt you have the experience or resources to run your own, so you'll have to create your channel on a public server. There is a list of the most popular ones here: http://irc.netsplit.de/networks/ I would suggest irc.freenode.org. It's a general purpose IRC network with NickServ/ChanServ/etc and makes registering a channel easy. Steps... (all of them without the <> around the parameters) Register your nickname by using /msg nickserv register <password> (to identify each time you connect.. /msg nickserv identify <password>) Join the channel. /join #yourchanname Register the channel. /msg chanserv register <#channel> <password> To link to it from your forum, you need to get everyone to install mIRC of course.. (unless you set up a webchat which I won't go into details about) and then get them to click a link that goes to irc://irc.freenode.org/yourchannelname <a href="irc://irc.freenode.org/yourchannelname">blahblah</a> for example If this is your first time using IRC then you are gonna need to do a lot of reading to understand how it works. I suggest you start off with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC EDIT: Blah at Tornado Rex.
