watchcap
I finally sat down and got hardcore with my SA gaming. I do have a problem getting the two oysters on the military base though. I was wondering if anyone had tips for that? I was thinking seasparrow or jetmax. 3 Things left: 49 Horseshoes 94 Tags 49 Oysters Edited September 16, 2005 by watchcap
Mxyzptlk
They are difficult unless you are there for a mission, yes... I recommend skydiving in and then swimming like a maniac to to this dinghy.. Then boat fast to Toreno's cabin, since it's easy to reach by water and an outdoor save spot. You might want to get the oysters there one at a time. watchcap
I have a map of where they all are, it has been pretty hard because I got in the dingy to go from the carrier to the sub dock, my boat exploded taking out 35% of my health, I collected the second oyster and before I could resurface I was killed. But that was starting without armor. Why is this a 'bad topic' to those who voted this way? Honestly, some of you people have some vandetta against me. Mxyzptlk
It might be safer to swim all the way to Toreno's... nothing will explode that way... be sure to take full armor. I'd get one at a time if I were you.
original gangster
well, i swam there to get it, hopped up onto land, stole a car and drove to transfender to get the wanted level down. my advice: swim in, get onto land, and sprint like mad to a car. Simon.
Once you get it you shouldn't have to worry about dying, because you'll still have it. I use OG's method, just swim in and gtfo!
blackwings
whats the big deal about dying? i typically parachute in, swim like mad from one to another, and try to get out, if i cant, i dont worry about it (having katie as a GF saves my weapons) edit - i think this was marked a bad topic cuz it should have been in 'mission help'? watchcap
But oyster collection isn't a mission, even though it is required for 100% I don't like dying because it just reflects poorly on my ability to play a game. I thank you all for your advice, and will try it all pretty soon.
GritSandWiches4Breakfest
I did this, but got them both at once and got the boat and went for the land and barely made it running all the way to a transfenders.
pdescobar
I do have a problem getting the two oysters on the military base though. I was wondering if anyone had tips for that?On topic, I got them at the start of the game when it was only a 4-star level. I ran a fast boat into the area where the oyster is under the roof, swam over to get the other one, then surfaced next to the carrier, ran up the steps, jacked the Patriot, and sped out to the Jetmax on the West side of SF in order to head home. I'm pretty sure I survived that one, although since I went and did as much as I could at the very start of the game, I racked up about 2 dozen deaths and arrests during all my 4-star escapades. I'd suggest this method, and since you are near game completion you can simply drive the Patriot to the spray shop at Wang's or a safe house. And now off-topic... (Note: color emphasis on quotes is mine) ...it has been pretty hard because I got in the dingy to go from the carrier to the sub dock, my boat exploded taking out 35% of my health, I collected the second oyster and before I could resurface I was killed. But that was starting without armor... I don't like dying because it just reflects poorly on my ability to play a gameIf you don't like dying, you really shouldn't break into military bases without wearing armor. whats the big deal about dying? i typically parachute in, swim like mad from one to another, and try to get out, if i cant, i dont worry about it (having katie as a GF saves my weapons)I agree with blackwings on this one. The Katie and Barbara rewards are teaching me to stop being a dang sissy and take my death/arrest like a man. I don't like it either, but there is something to be said for an accurate record of my gameplay as opposed to illegitimately spotless statistics; if twenty-some deaths reflects poorly on my ability to play, I guess I'm simply not a great player. watchcap
I got it to work, I have used your advice (somewhat) I drove into the base, hung a left at the patriot and drove my car into the water, getting out to collect the one underneath the carrier. I then swam to the sub dock, got that one, and moved onto the dingy. Arriving at the dingy, my wanted level dropped from 5 to 4 stars. I went fast to toreno's dock, and ran up to the save point. 9Iron
Just for future reference, if/when you start a new game, you could use the "Reuniting the Families" Exploit. You can just leave this mission and take off and explore anywhere in SA without a wanted level (it's explained in most of the walkthru guides). You can get all those difficult items and some weapons for earlier use in the game. BTW, I don't like dying in the game either--I never save a game where CJ's been wasted, I'll do a mission over if I have to. Just a personal gaming rule of mine, nothing to do with inflating my stats . . . could be I'm superstitious. There is a penalty for this---my time!
