Svip
If any of you know Mozilla's Bugzilla, you can skip the introduction of it, but the Bugzilla is a very simple system. It's whole database with every bug in an application listed. Now, for the use here: GTANet could use a Bugzilla, however, written by ourselves, as Mozilla's Bugzilla is made for applications and not for something like this. Our Bugzilla will be parted up in 3 categories: Games, GTANet and Mods. Games This category will be each game in the GTA series, from GTA1 to GTA:SA. Where under each category ( game ), bugs can be listed. Each game will have a list of locations, so people looking for bugs can locate their problem. GTANet For bugs found on the network itself. E.g. a bug in GTAForums.com could be added here. Then when admins and so furth looks around, bugs can be located. Mods Mods for the GTA games, though listed under each game, they work under the name of mods, and then the name of the bug. The General: Every category will follow this simple version: 1. A title, a desritive(sp?) title, that explains the problem in a short space ( maybe not presecisly, but things like "Bug in San Ferrio" will not be accepted ). 2. Keywords, a list of keywords the submitter would think people would find it while searching for it. 3. The bug, what happens, when it happens, etc. 4. How to fix it, or a patch to fix it ( or both ), can be added by the submitter if he already know how to fix it, or can be left blank if unknown by the submitter, and would like to find a solution. 5. The conversation, allowing members to discuse the bug, if it's needed, is it useless, was it wrong what the submitter wrote, in need of changes? Etc. The system will of course have a simple RSS feed to submit, where you can leave out bugs from categories, other that you don't want. So, what you think? I think it's very possible to get this to work. But I just need people's opinions.
Simon.
I like it. I have never used BugZilla though, so is it like one of those windows help files where you click Categories to find your problems? If so I like the idea, if not I'm sure it's Ok too, nothing bad with a help program .

But it's mainly a search and go system. Each bug will of course have an id, so users can fast get back to their bug. Of course with a "track this bug" system too. steve-m
A bug tracker would be a nice addition to GTAGarage.
Tornado Rex
Mozilla's Bugzilla for people who aren't sure what one is. I like the idea. X-Seti
Mozilla's Bugzilla for people who aren't sure what one is. I like the idea. Getting people to use it right might be kind of hard though A Sourceforge style interface might be the way to go, this would give the modder more feedback on his/her project. .
