Cran.
V 1.01 What you'll needA working version of San Andreas PC Fraps Easy steps to benchmarking1. Now that you have everything, make sure that you've ticked the boxes 'MinMaxAvg' under 'detailed benchmark statistics' in fraps.Tick 'Stop benchmark automaticlly after' and set it to 200. This will ensure everyone gets the same time 2. Run GTA San Andreas with fraps running, and start a new game, and MAKE SURE IT IS A NEW GAME.Just as the intro starts, press the benchmark button. This should be the first intro of the game, and no other. 3. Press the benchmarking button again just after the hud appears and you will get control of CJ. Rules everyone must comply with to make sure everyones score is fair Basic Settings Res 800x600x16 Details Low Draw dis Full Mip mapping Off Frame Limiter Off AA Off AF Off Normal Settings Res 1024x768x32 Details Very High Draw dis Full Mip mapping On Frame Limiter Off AA Off AF Off Advanced Settings Res 1024x768x32 Details Very High Draw dis Full Mip mapping On Frame Limiter Off AA 4x (gfx card settings) AF 8x (gfx card settings) What is my score?Your score is the total amount of frames (this is in your fraps directory/benchmarks, and then click on the right text document, the total will be there). In the future, more things will be added to benchmark, and maybe if i'm lucky I can get someone to make a benchmarking script which I would like to have a car driving to somewhere, like around a city, or up Mt. Chillad. If this can't be done, I can always get some people to post their save game, which is before a cut screen or something, which can supply many different tests. This could always be several cut scenes, and then all the avg scores will be added together. If anyone is still confused on what the text document should look like when opened, here is one of mine. Cran.
No, as I said over MSN, you have to do the first mission intro! You must have misread. I need to do the advanced test soon, so expect my score soon.

Wolf68k
Just because I want to feel special...even for a short time Advanced settings... Frames: 4233 Time: 197300 Min: 7 Max: 100 Avg: 21.455 Funny thing; at the part where the train shows up, the lag was so bad while still in the middle of waiting for the train to pass the cop car drove through the train. Then later when CJ is walking toward the bike, the camera moves past CJ instead of staying behind him. Obivously I'm not going to be running with the advanced settings, even the "normal" settings are a bit much for my weak rig. I'm already slipping down the ladder. GTA3Freak-2001
Just tried the Advanced settings and fond it wasn't that much different in terms of it looking better but not performaning that much worst. 2005-09-17 13:10:35 - gta_saFrames: 5712 - Time: 197330ms - Avg: 28.946 - Min: 0 - Max:

Cran.
That's higher than me on Normal, you sure you had it on 1024x768 on 32bit mode? or was it 16bit mode?
SEEJAY123
I would do it, but with those damn dynamic shadows on I can literally count the frames per second myself. Really kills it. It's stupid too how they tied in grass detail with shadows. The countryside looks very plain, and when you enable grass they look like chia pets growing right in front of you eyes as your driving. Cran.
Ummm.. you could do the basic benchmark. And I didn't know you could disable the grass, enlighten me.
SEEJAY123
Hmm, no sorry I meant that when you disable the 'Visual FX Quality' it also disables the grass. In other words, no shadows, no grass. But, if you set the game to 16-bit instead of 32 you can get the grass without the shadows, but then the grass looks brown instead of green. Really weird dude. Really weird like the Truth. And since it is 16 bit it looks a bit more grainy too. But yea to those who want the grass details but not the shadows turn the resolution to 16bit if you really want it. Hope you like brown grass.
Cran.
Hmmm, never knew that. I don't venture into the 16 bit alot, you know. Still, i've played it on low just to see how it runs, and I never noticed that the grass was missing. The only reason the colours are screwed up in SanAn on 16 bit is because the game was intended to be played in 32 bit. But Rockstar left 16-bit for people with computers that can't handle 32 but, bit as a result, the textures look like ass

But I think I overlooked AF (video card forced). What's that? I saw no option. He means in your GFX cards control panel, AF is Anistropic Filtering and turning it on reduces your performance so that can't be it. Ok so this is rather odd, just did the game on the Basic settings and I get; 2005-09-18 11:41:28 - gta_saFrames: 7685 - Time: 199881ms - Avg: 38.448 - Min: 0 - Max: 100 The game looked god awful, would that have anything to do with my LCD Monitor's natural resolution being 1028x1024? Cran.
I still want to know what the hell is going on, everyone with a 6600GT is getting like 5-7k (I'm including admacs, since 6800 vinalla is basicly a 6600GT with a fancy name). When you get home from work, I gotta talk to you on MSN and figure this out. BTW, if you can wolf, fix the tables

GTA3Freak-2001
Hmm strange that eh, I just can't see how I can get still such an average score compared to how the game actually looks with jaggies noticble enough to measure witha damm ruler! Cran.
Update, yet again. Now to make it easier, set the time to 200 seconds so fraps will finish the benchmark so you won't have to have a good reaction time.. Table updated, new scores added edit: Now i've thought about the scores, it seems wolf's 5700LE just loves low settings, so it beat Freakeh's 6600GT But I guess the low setting rely more on the CPU and RAM, therefore he came out the winnar! GTA3Freak-2001
Ah good idea, makes more sense and rules out the pullution of pressing the buttons at different times thus the benchmark not being acurate.
