Looking for a code

HALT! Stop right there. ANYtime you have a thought that starts like that, you may choose between the opcode database, original code, the opcode thread(s), or updated INI offerings, as well as the search link for this forum. However, NOT the create topic button.

And believe it or not, for SOME codes you'd be looking for, which game you're talking about matters.

Howdy Demarest, long time no see.smile.gif

Did do a search, very unrewarding. Searches wind up with 200 topics that make it just as difficult to narrow down your topic as it is to randomly pick a thread and hope it has your answer.

I don't know if you remember my work with VC (Rewritting a new Main.scm, retxturing of the Roads {along with Partiboy}...amoung other things).

I rarely, if ever, ask for assistance and when I do it means I have exausted all my other options. This seemed like the right forum to ask the question in...A lot has changed in the past year biggrin.gif

Sorry I did not say this was for SA...Oopss blush.gif

Anyhow, I was going over some of my old VC code, but could not find any reference to locking the camera in place. I'm sure it can be done quite easily, with just one or two lines, unfortunatly I am unable to narrow my search down far enough to find the lines I need. If you, or anyone else, could point me in the right direction it would be most helpful...TY.. cool.gif

mate if youre gonna make a camera be locked to sumthing like behind a car when you drive, would you look into maybe possibly make a camera that locks onto you as you move around and follows you as you go in different directions like with devil may cry, mgs1/2/3, god of war, you know, like similar to their camera cuts n panning n zooming far and upclose?

reason i ask is cos i find that it has an edgy style to it and has sum flair n cinematic feel to it.

what i was hoping you could look into was possibly make a camera view from above lock up above the bike ramp park and have the camera follow your movement and zoom in or out when your riding fast or slow, in los santos where you ride around on your bmx and stunting and grabbing air off ramps to collect checkpoints to extend the timer as you ride around and complete the mini game. cos i think it would look cool riding around in the bike park while the camera gives you a great view where the check points are at and makes it easier to beat the mini game like that.

i dont mean that camera overhead style from gta3, i meant like as in similar to the mgs games where it had a camera follow you and cut to a different angle when you head off into a new direction. i had a topic set up but i dont think any1 posted yet as far as i know of. ill have a check.

so would you look into that maybe? that would be great.smile.gif

There's a Camera Lock Mod released in the Mission Mod Showroom.

rootmanback: Sounds good, but right now I am just "playing" with the codes and getting familiar with SA. It has been a long time since I have worked with the GTA codes, though it sounds like you are loking for a reworking of the engine rather than something we can do with the main.scm.

Space: Yes, I looked at that and it does it's job (with the tweaks Demarest suggested cool.gif ). Unfortunately, while the lock does work, the engine is trying to force the camera movement making the screen very jumpy while turning, kinda defeats the purpose.. The camera is my prime objective to straighten out (I have no idea who decided the camera should act the way it does...But they need a "Boot up side da head" angry.gifbiggrin.gif ) Right now though I am just looking at what can, and needs, to be done... cool.gif

Try this

02EB: restore_camera_with_jumpcut

I think he means 0373: set_camera_directly_behind_player. space's UNlocks the camera. Doing this with a tight loop should be fluid enough.
