tehhunter
The show Rome recently debuted on HBO and I have to say that it is actually quite an enthralling show. Maybe this just has to do with me taking latin for seven years, but then again, who knows. So, have any non-latin-language-affilated people seen the show, and would like to share their opinions? Mar
I like it a lot, but I have a problem with all the sex. I mean, sex is ok on TV, but it's almost a constantly thing in Rome, and I understand that's most likely how it was, but still, I'm a girl and I don't like seeing girls boobs every 10 minutes. But the filming is great, I like it lots. <3 Tricycle Propaganda Monster FBI Connection <

Asmodeus
I haven't heard much about this, but I'm interested in it. It's about Caesar and the last years of the Republic isn't it? I hope it comes to New Zealand. Boobs and Rome, it has everything!
Fatality.
Hmm...I saw a trailer for the show once, and I thought it looked very promising. Unfortunately, I don't have HBO, so I'll probably rent the season boxsets in the distant future.
Plaka
It's actually not a bad show the sex is, apart from HBO trying to get a larger audience, true in historical terms. I like the running intrigue and political maneuvering between the Senate, Caesar etc then the switch to day-to-day problems shown by the two soldiers. Carbine23
I had to Bump this topic because i first started watching it. It's a great and promising series!! I just finished my Roman unit in Global History so i became interested in watching this. It does have a lot of sex, but that's what Rich Romans did back then. It does make you want to live back then. Caesar's nephew Octavian is ordered by his mother to go penetrate somebody. He was ordered to do it! The girl he did it with was kinda hot too. It does take place in the last years of the Roman Republic. I only started watching episode 6 - the end of season 1. Season 2 came out and it's after Caesar's death. Does anybody know if they're making a season 3?

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus
That show is very historically inaccurate. It's not 'Sex and the City' bad, but it certainly isn't worth my time.
darthYENIK
There is much more to this show than sex. I liked how Lucius is this warrior, but tries to be a single father at the same time.
Crokey
This was an Epic bump, much like the series was quite Epic, yes as (the person who I thought would post in a topic about this show with a username like that) Nero etc etc etc said, it isn't historically accurate, but how accurate can you be about events that took place 2000 years ago and were passed on by word of mouth for centuries (heard of Chinese Whispers) before being written down (/looks at the Bible and other relgious texts) But alas this great series isn't getting a Third outing, as much as I'd love it to as it was a fantastic romp and completely unlike half those other dumbed-down, camply acted series we've had before, sure the word 'F*ck' wasn't in use back then but hey the equivilent would have been. But it was too expensive to produce and made a slight loss for HBO (very marginal they hadn't included DVD sales yet which effectively broke it even), although a third and final installment was written and promised to be even better than the first two seasons and was forcast to be lower in budget due to more location shooting and less studio sets as well as a pledge by a lot of the cast and crew to work for a little less to get it done, HBO and the BBC decided not to go ahead with it. My opinon is if the BBC weren't involved then it would have gone ahead, but the BBC are being like Fox these days and not giving series a chance and pulling those that are succesfull in favour of Reality bleeping TV. darthYENIK
It's almost rightful, since Lucius died and he was pretty much the main character.
Crokey
It's almost rightful, since Lucius died and he was pretty much the main character. That was written in quickly after HBO/BBC made the announcemnt that there wouldn't be a thrid season during the shooting of the second Season. But you could still carry it on with Titus as he was pretty much the co-star of it with Lucius.
Carbine23
Aw, no third season. I didn't see the second one yet but i was really loving this show The sex isn't that bad. They basically show breasts on the women mostly. They did show a dick at one point, it was disturbing . But who doesn't like sex. Like Titus Pullo said in the series Alright, but she better f*** him like Helen of Troy with her ass on fire.
Tony Mozzarelli 80
I thought Rome was the best, most well written, well acted, historical epic i have ever had the fortune to see. Who cares about historical inaccuracies? It's necessary to keep the show more interesting, pity it was so expensive.
