sate
At school we have a big project. We have to do a homepage about a topic we have choosed, and it has to be good. Now the school tell us to use Microsoft frontpage, and it's about the only program we can use, because the schools PC's doesnt have anything else. Now I'm lousy at HTML, JAVA and all that (My experience is limited). I guess what I'm asking is: Am I just very bad at frontpage or is it a very sh*tty program to do homepages in if you're not good at html? I think your options are very limited when it comes to templates, border options and picture editing. (Well now I'm using Photoshop for the picture part). I just hate the damn program
TwoZero
The pc has notepad no? Just use that and learn proper xhtml Seriously, ms frontpage is supposed to be one of the easiest programs to make a simple website in. It produces mainly sh*t html code, but should work real easy. For more advanced design, and for loads more design and code functions you could suggest to them to buy Macromedia's Dreamweaver or something, but they probably will say that they don't have money for that. If you really want a good homepage, you should learn proper html and code it by hand and not with some 'drag, drop and edit' program imo.
Svip
Or alternatively get/pay someone else to do it... that can. Even though it's school, would they notice? Teacher: "Oh, my, that's very well structure website, see how great Micrsoft Frontpage is!" You: "It's not made with Microsoft Frontpage, I created using notepad. Frontpage produces too much useless HTML. I decided to go with a text-editor application." Teacher: "..." Or alternatively in Danish, since you are Danish; Lærer: "Det var dog en velstrukturet hjemmeside, se hvor godt Microsoft Frontpage er!" Dig: "Den er ikke lavet med Microsoft Frontpage. Jeg lavede den med Notepad. Frontpage producere for meget ubruglig HTML, så jeg valgte at gå med en tekst-editor." Lærer: "..." Or something along those lines. segosa
Get a nice syntax highlighted editor, set the background colour to black and foreground default to matrix-green. Whilst the others in the class are sitting there furiously trying to figure out how to create tables in Frontpage, there you are hammering at your keyboard writing HTML in a matrix-lookalike terminal. When the other students ask you what you're doing you just say 'Nothing important...' with a distracted look on your face.
Knightmare
Frontpage isn't that bad as a WYSIWYG program. Sure it creates a lot of useless html, but this guy doesn't care about that as he's just creating a simple homepage. Do you know anything about html? If so, use Notepad. Otherwise Frontpage is pretty damn easy. My parapalegic grandma can make a website in Frontpage. Just type all the text and use all the pics, and then select the text you want to use and right click to make them hyperlinks, etc. If you have a class on this you should know all this already though. Thanks -shaDow

I used Frontpage for a long while before going to pure code. It's a great program if you're familiar with the Microsoft Office interface, and if you're willing to take the time and clean up the code afterwards, it's not half bad. Is handcoding better? Of course. But to get the job done quickly, Frontpage works. Period. Also, to go against the grain - if your school is telling you to use Frontpage, use Frontpage. There are better methods, but if they're looking for Frontpage specifically, do it.
