You JUST noticed?! I mean it started with the old Modern Mod BACK in the 2003!

Now you can find CD's with Deluxe, Ultimate, Myriad, Long Night... I know it's awful... But I'm afraid you can't do anything with it.

It's all because the companies who release most of the games here in Ukraine are PIRATE companies. Yes, the government does try to do something with 'em, new and new commetees that discuss this question appear, but... HOW can you stop pirates? You see, they work in the shadow, and stores only do business... selling their CD's. It's impossiple to prohibit selling pirate products, because it would cause a wave of aggression from gamers.

You see, the level of economics in our country is awful, and only some people can afford buying games for 20-30-40-50 $. Yes , the official publishers release games that cost about 4 to 10 $, but you can understand that these are far not all of the games. (BTW official publishers don't ever do nothing like this crap with TC's)

So you can't do ABSOLUTELY nothing with it.

Sometimes your replies were realli SILLY and FUNNY.

Don't you get it, pirates AREN'T idiots. They sell games AND these mods to make money. And people buy their CD's because they are CHEAP. I know it's good livin' in USA, Germany (or other c*ntry of the EU), but count in the fact that an average amount of money earned by ukrainians is about 150$ (very average statistic made by me personally)

Note that I don't support the f*ckin' pirates in any way, I just comment the situation.

You do in fact actually have rights, there is still artistic licencse and the creation is yours. If this can be proven, eg. through documentation, this includes simple things like backup files and work in progress files that were created while you were creating the model then you can still nail thier arses good and proper.

There is an article about legal issues in issue 69 of 3D World magazine.

Otherwise I wouldn't have known sh*t about it either.

there is something the government can *try* and do (good publicity to foreigners, etc. etc.) with public confiscation/burning of mass produced pirated goods,etc. like once a week (hey, it happened here)

 

tho with the advent of dvd burners and dsl internet (or anything faster) the source(s) of piracy goes directly to the end consumer, cutting out the middleman who takes profit from "repackaging" the goods and tries to sell end product (pirate copy, etc.) to consumer (who most likely doesnt have the dosh to afford such things)

 

i could write a thesis on piracy right now, and how it's affected the progress in westernization of most cultures
