Captain Keyes
Last time I checked BJ Ryan was going to the Blue Jays. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/215412-mlb-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=3345428 Share on other sites
Cuse510
Ryan did go to the Jays. Also, Paul Konerko resigned with the Sox, which is great for them. Not only is he an under-rated (well, at least he used to be under-rated) player, but he has also become the "face" of the franchise. Should be interesting to see what he and Thome can do together. Hopefully Jim can bounce back from last season. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/215412-mlb-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=3355331 Share on other sites
gta_player5
busy week in baseball to say the least, konerko resigns with Chicago, thome goes to chicago for rowand, BJ ryan gets signed by the 'Jays, Billy Wagner signs with the mets, Kyle Farnsworth goes to the Yankees, and Tom Gordon signs with the Phillies. busy week, i think the Whitesox had the best week though, they kept their best player and they got a good player to fill the DH spot that they were sorta missing, since there really was no one to put there other then Frank Thomas but he was injured for much of the year. woodprior383
Dont forget about Furcal going to the Dodgers. I really hoped the Cubs could land him. Now hopefully we will pursue Juan Pierre realy hard and get him for our leadoff spot. gta_player5
also its been made official today the Mets have landed Paul Lo Duca for 2 minor league pitchers... FLORIDA MARLINS FIRE SALE COME ONE COME ALL, FIRST COME FRIST SERVE. theyre blowin up the team, gettin rid of big salaries and gettin young talent and tryin to develop it into a good team, since they most likely feel like "we spent money and nobody showed up and we still didnt do very good" so blow up the team and develop the raw talent. also i think the yankees will pursue Pierre, they need a CF and a leadoff hitter, so he could be both, plus they need some one who can steal bases. ALSO, haha, the cubs couldve used Furcal, Nomar just cant stay healthy, so they couldve used him Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/215412-mlb-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=3363264 Share on other sites
gta_player5
BUMP... AJ Burnett has gone to the Toronto Blue Jays, theyre spendin money now, theyve spent $102 million on 2 pitchers, BJ Ryan and AJ Burnett both signed for 5 years, Burnett has a 5 year 55 mil contract. Ryan has a 5 year 47 mil contract. i still dont think they can they can compete with the Redsox and Yankees. Also, the Yankees might get Juan Pierre for Scott Proctor and Henn (i forgot his first name) thats good theyve got their CF and their lead off hitter in one player. Cuse510
The Cubs got Juan Pierre today! They got him in exchange for three pitchers (Sergio Mitre and two prospects.) I think this is really a good trade for the Cubs. Back in 2003, they made the playoffs in large part due to the spark that Kenny Lofton provided in the lead-off spot. Pierre can do the same thing. I know they are giving up quite a bit of potential, but they already have great starting pitching so it won't hurt too much, and I think Pierre is worth it. gta_player5
Really busy offseason, today Alfonso Soriano was traded to the Nationals, he apparently was not happy in Texas and so he was traded to Washington for Brad Wilkerson, Tammel Sledge, and a player to be named. Is it me or do the Rangers tend to trade away their best players alot???? station
Well in that case I better trash my Rangers Alfonso Soriano shirt. Oh well, I like the Red Sox way more than the Rangers. I just go to a lot of Rangers games because I live in the area. darthYENIK
Bengie Molina isn't coming back to the Angels. Yeah, he's not the fastest or best hitter. But he's good catcher. I'll miss you #1. EDIT: Just read into it and they also let go Jarrod Washburn! What the f*ck. Now they don't have any leftys, not even in the pin! They better pick a couple up. gta_player5
Yankees aquirred former Red Sox pitcher Mike Myers today, I like him a little bit, it seems to me like his stuff is OK, but I am a little bit skecthy about him until I see how he does, because I saw him with previous teams and I didn't like what I saw. But we'll see....... Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/215412-mlb-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=3377454 Share on other sites
darthYENIK
The Angels really seem like they are cleaning their club house. They are getting rid of premier players, and not getting in trades. Washburn, Byrd, B. Molina, DaVannon, and they may be benching center fielder Steve finley. They really look like they are relying on their AAA teams to produce some players. But with the release of Washburn and Byrd I think they need to look more toward the Majors for replacements. EDIT: accidentally hit reply... I mean, what was wrong with the teams pitching last year? I agree they need more power at the plate, but why get rid of two great starters? And not try to use their salary for better batters. Oh well, the season is 4 1/2 months away, plent of time I hope. He slumped a bit last year, but I think he will put up solid numbers this year while providing his great defense. Captain Keyes
It's Mark Sweeney. Mike Sweeney (who was an All-Star last year btw) is still on the Royals. Seeing as Sweeney hits left-handed and Niekro is right-handed, it'll probably just be a platoon situation depending on the opposing pitcher. darthYENIK
This is how, right now I think the Angels' lineup is gonna be. Anderson - LF Figgins - CF Guerrero/Rivera - RF Alfonzo - 3rd Cabrera - SS Kennedy - 2nd Erstad - 1st J. Molina - C The changes to notice are Figgins in CF, Alfonzo in 3rd, and J. Molina (guess I can just call him Molina now since there will be no confusion ) catching. Figgins was moved to CF after the recent trading of Finley to the Giants for Alfonzo, who will finally give the Angels a solid 3rd baseman, and hopefully some offense. Jose Molina is taking over as the main catcher as the Angels, for some reason or another, decided to let go of his free agent brother Bengie Molina. Jose is a notch under Bengie in my opinion, all except for his running. Bengie you're a great catcher, but you run like molasses. gta_player5
Trade talks between the Chicago Cubs and the Baltimore Orioles. The players involed are: Balt: Miguel Tejeda ChiC: Mark Prior The O's originally wanted Carlos Zambrano but the Cubs refused to make a deal. The Cubs also reported ly would like to acquire Eric Bedard and the Orioles refuse to do that. Why? Because they would like to partner up Bedard and Prior in their rotation. If I were the Cubs I would offer Zambrano, and prospects for Tejeda, Bedard, and prospects. Just my opinion But I think this deal would greatly benefit both sides as the both are trying to fill holes, the Cubs lack of a shortstop and the Orioles their lack of starting pitching. This would be a good trade. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/215412-mlb-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=3407172 Share on other sites

darthYENIK
I'm excited. It looks like the Angels are getting Tim Salmon ready for spring training, and hope he will be well enough to play. And I hope that almost two years of rehab and surgery didn't knock him down a few pegs. I also hope I get to go to his first game back in anaheim. There is nothing more awesome then hearing tens of thousands of fans go from quiet to a roar, when a player whose been out for a while gets announced on the starting lineup before a game. Especially when the player is considered the captain of the team.
