Vanzant
After five years when 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial jetliners, attacked New York City and Washington and brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center Hollywood is ready to make movies based on the events. Thats right, two big movie productions Paramount pictures and Universal is ready to each make a film about one of Americas biggest disaster. Even ABC is preparing a miniseries for next year. Wait a second...why bother I thought we were trying to erase this whole event out of our lives? Remember they removed the WTC from every short film, movie even Video games such as Grand Theft Auto and altered older Flight games based in New York. Pearl Harbor edged out the story of a humble ogre to remain No. 1 in weekend box office for the second week. Pearl Harbor took in $30 million and grossed 119.3 million! Whoa now there you go right there Pearl Harbor maybe the closest major attack on America made that much why not capitalize I mean you really don't need much writing talent. Plot: People are going to work and disater strikes the trade center. talented script: Mostly a bunch of "omfg! wtf?! help!" ending: Standing up to terrorism and fighting back. Of course there will be plenty of mixed feelings from the two films and the miniseries maybe it's a good idea then again maybe it's not. Here are a few examples of why they plan on creating the films. It really was just a matter of time before they decided to take this on,” said Missy Schwartz, a correspondent for Entertainment Weekly who wrote about the forthcoming Sept. 11 projects. “Hollywood is always looking for dramatic stories.” Ok but how about the hundreds of talented writers that have their own "original" work they try to submit to Hollywood everyday? Why make a film about somthing we have already expierienced?! Heres another one. "If you're in a car crash or some other traumatic event, in order to come to grips with it, you have to look at the facts, at what actually happened," Cascio said. "Then you can understand it and move on." Oh Cascio you must not have noticed every god damn tabloid, book and magazine that hit the shelves days after the event we all read about it we all understand it and we know the facts. Heres the best quote from the story. And some of those directly affected by Sept. 11 believe such projects have merit because they keep the memory alive in a culture known for its short attention span. Oh thats right everyone in America is stupid and we forget about these things! Well I'm so damn glad there was a movie about the Titanic and a Movie about World War II otherwise we stupid Americans might have forgotton that WWII actually took place! Well aside from all that I guess at what talent they will twrow in the mix. I swear I will puke if they get Rob Schneider or Will Ferral to play Osama Time for the rest of you to discuss. woodprior383
Wait a second...why bother I thought we were trying to erase this whole event out of our lives? Why the hell would we do that? You want to just forget about the thousands of firefighters, cops, and citizens that died? Hey, that's a good idea. Let's just forget all about it so we leave ourselves open for another attack. milkymilky
I think he meant that having a film like that come out, that dramatises the tragic events would reopen old wounds and cause new grief for those people affected. By 'erasing the whole event' I'm sure he meant by letting it go and allowing people to grieve without a cash-in on the film. I'm sure the event itself won't be forgotten but it would be best not to make a cash-in of it so soon (Pearl Harbour was over 50 years ago remember). It's very tasteless. Just allow documentary films to be made about it. At least that way, people can be helped to come to terms with it and understand it more fully than they would from a fictional film. Vanzant
I didnt mean we wanna erase it. What I'm getting at is we don't need the issue rubbed into our eyes everyday. My only real opinion is that I don't think movie producers should be looting off the event with a film. Like milky said documentory films are better as they provide better info.
