Sports Weekly
This is the offical place for GTAForumers to talk about the NBA. This page will be updated day-to-day once the season offically starts. But now, all we can do is talk. So, I heard that the NBA will be moving the NO Hornets to Oklahoma, to play in the new stadium we have, which is called The Ford Center. A great facility. But no one knows if they will stay there permantly.

Soul Survivor
I hope they don't stay there long, because they play way better in there own stadium. Than playing a """HOME GAME"'" in a different stadium. Its more like a road game to me but that is just my opinon.

Tickets only 10 dollars, so I could buy all of the home game tickets for about 200 dollars. It's great though, Oklahoma finally has a Pro team, and I think it will boom. J.R. Smith is the future. Soul Survivor
Yea, i also think that smith is the future. For one reason, he played good last year and is ready to step up tp be a leader. Because Baron Davis gone, who else do they have that will step up so J.R should become a leader within the next year or two.
D Jones
Yeah, I think he will be the star this year. I think him and Chris Paul will be good teamates this year, it will be good watching them.
Soul Survivor
Yea but what about the Miami Heat this year. The look like they will go all the way to the finals.
D Jones
Yeah, that have a awesome line-up. They lost Eddie Jones, but they got Antione Walker and James Posey. Which Posey is going to probably start at SF. They had a decent bench, and likely they will win it all.
Soul Survivor
Not to be rude, but you forgot Jason Williams from Memphis.
woodprior383
The Heat are going to win the Championship this year. They were very good last year and they added way to much talent this year not be the favorites. The only team that has a chance and beating them is the Spurs. Cuse510
I believe they also just signed the Glove to a one year deal. This has to be one of the most stacked teams (in terms of talent) in history...
Soul Survivor
Yea they are going to be unstoppable. No team will beat them not even th spurs.
gta_player5
What do we think of the Knicks? I doubt if they go to the playoffs that theyll go far but what do we think of theyre additions in, Larry Brown at coach, Quentin Richardson, and Channing Frye their draft pick? i think they should be considered a threat in the East this year. Cuse510
Speaking of the Knicks, the Bulls just traded Eddy Curry to them. The full deal was Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis for Mike Sweetney, Tim Thomas, and some other guy. AD is supposed to be released later this month and go back to the Bulls though. This could be either a really good move for the Bulls or a really bad one, depending on how (if) Eddy Curry is able to play the rest of his career. Cuse510
Jason Collier of the Atlanta Hawks died today at age 28 of apparent cardiac arrest. Now I had never really heard of him, but it's always sad to see someone die so early. This also reminds me of Eddy Curry. If Collier, with (apparently) no previous heart problems, can just die like that, I'm scared to think of Eddy just collapsing on the court... And it's always sad to see a guy just go .
pacman11
The Knicks won't do good this year. They only have Stephon. No they will do good this year. Although Kurt Thomas got traded, Stephan has more people to work with. Suns are going to win the championship.
Cuse510
Suns are going to win the championship. I doubt they will. Their team is significantly worse than last year after losing Q and JJ. Plus, Amare's injury doesn't help either

gta_player5
Anybody watch the Knicks opener? or see highlights? I thought they were better then that, not takin anything away from the celtics but to be tied in overtime then end up losing by 14. just horrible. Eddy Curry did good and Stephon Marbury needs to play tighter defense, i think he'll improve there this year with LArry Brown. But now that the NBA season has started what do we think?? Yeah I watched the game. They just couldn't match the Celtics' toughness and effort. They shot horribly at the line, were badly outrebouned, and turned the ball over too many times to win. It's going to take a while for Larry Brown to mold this team into the winners he's made of past teams. In his favor, though, is the fact that the Knicks have suddenly gotten alot younger. It's easier to teach younger players, since they're more receptive. I think Marbury will buy into Larry's defensive philosiphy, and if Curry can stay healthy, the Knicks should be in contention for the 7th or 8th seed this year. woodprior383
The only NBA game I have watched is the Bulls game last night. They came back from a 25 point deficit at the beginning of the 4th quarter to win in overtime. Kirk Hinrich got hurt though.
gta_player5
@Noodles: i agree wth you, the game was just a horrible show of foul shooting and rebounding. and i think that the self proclaimed "best" point guard in the league stephon marbury will become a much better defender with larry browns defensive guidance. but with the moves they made in the off season i thnk the knicks will be a much better team and possibly take 6th place in the upgraded eastern conference. GTA3Rockstar
Not to be rude, but you forgot Jason Williams from Memphis. Suppose you're a DNuggets fan??? I am too, what a sh*tty game against the Lakers; losing in overtime...
Cuse510
Shaq is out 2-4 weeks with a sprained ankle. That really sucks for the Heat, to lose hime so early in the season. This could possibly help them though, because now maybe they can become more of a run-and-gun team, with all the scorers they have...
gta_player5
i dont think it will really hurt them , because alonzo mourning is still pretty good. just look at what he did in the playoffs last year, even though the heat lost he did great coming off the bench. Mafia Drive Gunner
Hey guys, I'm not really much of a b-ball fan, but I just wanted to come in and see what you all think of Andrew Bogut, the Australian first overall draft pick. I hear he went alright in his first game, mainly because the Aussie sporting media is following what he does closely. So, thoughts? -MDG
Cuse510
He'll be pretty good, but I think he might take a while to develop. He still seems like a raw talent, but I think that after a couple years of learning the ropes he can be a very good NBA center.
gta_player5
i saw him in preseason games, and the first NBA game. He did all right, didnt shoot that well but that will come with more playing time and experience. But he was great on the defensive rebounds, i think in his career he'll be more a defensive Center then offensive. Not sayin he'll be bad at offense but more defensive oriented.
