Canoxa
As it seems like the pixel art is what's cool around this part of the forums, be amazed with Pixelize", a topic where we can show our pieces, ask for help, debate techniques, etc. Chat away ladies. DiVaio
Have you asked a mod permission for this thread, since usually threads like these get locked. It seems to be a good idea though, however there is the pixill thread.
papanesta
Seeing as this has already been reported by... someone. I'm going to go ahead and say I support this, just now anyway. Might stop the Pix-Ill City topic getting even more cluttered. And well, if this topic doesn't work out, it can just float away.
Enano
Hello, I'm trying to learn pixel art, and this is the first thing I was able to do. I was going to post it in the Pix-Ill City thread, but since it's my first work I want to receive recommendations first. Replica of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. What do you think about it?
Pierce Brosnan
It looks great, nice colours and idea, you should post that in the Pix-Ill City thread.
Viva Gta San Andreas.
May sound noobish, but how do we make pixel art things?
Canoxa
@ Paps - Glad you approved. @ Viva - If you look in the Tutorial forum, there is a tutorial bt Clown. on how to pixelate a simple house. Try it. @ Enano - Looks good, specially the top. Good job, but some things can be corrected. Choose a good cement grey to the Statue (?). Choose more types of greens and try to do a little pattern. Select only the grass area and apply it there. That's how I make them. But it's overall good, I love the little flags.

You should try adding fountains and the like round about it. Just add something to it.
SWEETSAPRIK
Simple, but not bad. If you wanted it to look more like the actual Washington monument you should color it off-white/gray. Also, like paps said add some fountains/water. The real one has a "reflecting pool" so I'd suggest getting the template that's long and skinny, placing the monument to one side of it, then making the long rectangular reflecting pool. It also has a round path surrounding it, although "round" might be hard if you're just starting. xxnofear617xx
the reflecting pool actually leads you to the lincoln monument it's not the washington monument's pool.
Canoxa
What do you people think inc reating contests, and write in-depth tutorials for here? It was part of my original idea.
SWEETSAPRIK
the reflecting pool actually leads you to the lincoln monument it's not the washington monument's pool. Actually it's called the Linclon memorial, and although the reflecting pool is a part of the Lincoln memorial, it's purpose is to reflect the Washington monument. (EDIT) Nevermind, it's just a coincidence. Still, if he's going for realism, and he's going to add something, (especially if he's going to add water/fountains) I still can't think of something better to add. anuj
Doesn't one thread defeat the point of having a forum? I know it's a specific topic, but this will get way too damn cluttered way too damn fast. At least try to keep it spam-free, thanks.
Enano
Thanks for all the replies. About the color, it's not gray, I could make it less yellowish, but not gray. About the pool, I could make it, but I would have to add the new World War II fountain between the pool and the monument. It was completed a few years ago, and it looks like this: This is from the perspective of the top of the Washington Monument. From bottom to top: World War II memorial, Reflecting pool, and Lincoln Memorial, which I would also try to do. The links for the templates in the Pix-Ill City topic are broken, so I PM anuj. As soon as he fix them I will begin working Thanks again for the recommendations, pixel art is fun!!!
Clown.
ah, i've found it. about the tutorial thing, i would say that instead of people writing them here, hust edit your first post with links to other pixel things over the forum, related websites and so on. i'm working on a skyscraper, i might release it here when its done. Enano
Hey everyone, I worked more on the Washington Monument today, I made the bottom of the obelisk like the real one, I added the new World War II memorial, the Reflecting Pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. A few things that I would like to ask: I though making a circle was hard, but pumping water out of a fountain is f*cking impossible, I just couldn't make it look good so I left it like that (The right part of the pool is supposed to be a fountain). So could anyone point out how to make a good looking fountain please? Also, does the pool pattern looks too glossy? I wanted it to look like a "reflecting" pool so I made that pattern, but do you think a different pattern would look better or is that one alright? Well, constructive criticism is welcomed , this is it: Some day I will do the Capitol and the White House, don't expect it soon though.
SWEETSAPRIK
In my opinion: The water and the structures need more texturing. Meaning they need a less "single solid color" look, and more of a "lots of similar but slightly varied tints" look. Lower the saturation on the whole thing. Adding more small details to it would also help. Still, I think it looks pretty damn good, especially considering that you're just starting. It's better than I could do. PяopagaиdaIиc. 51L3N7 4554551N
I reckon it looks alright, nothing off scale. The windows look like they need a bit more texturing, maybe a street infront later, then it will look great
Canoxa
I don't know why I didn't input my creatings. This one was my first one, with one foot on the tutorial, one off. And this one I made all by myself. It's kind of an hotel. Notice the door on the roof, I loved that.
niteangel´
@Clown: It looks pretty good, perspectives look correct. But it looks a bit too repetitive. @Canoxa: The first one is nothing special as you said yourself. And the second looks pretty nice but, if you can, you should add depth to the balconies. And add some detail here and there.
Clown.
@ canoxa, like the second one, although some shading would look even better, the first one isn't really worth commenting on as it is just a tutorial production. @niteangel, yeah, it is repetitive but so are most skyscrapers. if you have any ideas on how to break up the monotony and make it look nicer, then please tell me, comments would be greatly appreciated. i am not quite happy with it anyway. 51L3N7 4554551N
Canoxa, the house has got a white line on the back, and the grass is plain, but looks nice. Your second one looks nice though, I like it /rates topic good

Enano
@Clown: Make the right wall darker, the left one can stay like that, and the roof lighter. It will look like it's receiving some sunlight.
