thedude777
Well, I'm bored, and I noticed there was no guide for the Race Tournaments, so I decided to make one. I've gathered information from the San Andreas strategy guide, and from myself, and I've put this guide together. It is designed to help anyone who needs help with any of the Race Tournaments. If you finish in 1st place in a race, you are awarded $10,000. Los Santos Race Tournaments There are 9 races available in Los Santos. Follow the checkflag to the place where you can select the races. The Los Santos Races are: Lowrider Race Little Loop Backroad Wanderer City Circuit Vinewood Freeway Into the Country Badlands A Badlands B Lowrider Race Track Distance: 1.46 Miles Vehicle Used: Blade You should not do this race with a low driving skill. The Blade has low handling, so go easy around turn to avoid fishtailing. Use the Blade's high speed and pass the competitors on straightaways, while taking it a little easy on the corners. Watch for traffic as you enter the Santa Maria Beach boardwalk. Little Loop Track Distance: 0.82 Miles Vehicle Used: NRG-500 This is the shortest race in Los Santos. When you begin the race, lean slightly forward on the bike to increase your speed. If you don't you may pop a wheelie when the race begins. The key you winning is to lean slighty forward on the bike, which the other competitors rarely use. Backroad Wanderer Track Distance: 2.05 Miles Vehicle Used: FCR-900 Again, lean slighty forward on the bike to gain speed. This course if full of turns, so take them easily. Go fast on the few straightaways you have, and a little slower on the turns. Driver down the center of the road to avoid both lanes of traffic. City Curcuit Track Distance: 2.26 Miles Vehicle Used: FCR-900 Again, you are riding the FCR-900, so again, lean forward to gain speed. This course has long straightaways, so use them to your advantage. Go fast on the straightaways, and get ahead of the competitors so you can take the corners slower. Vinewood Track Distance: 2.41 Miles Vehicle Used: Sunrise In this race, you are driving a 2-door sedan, not the best chose for racing. Getting ahead of competitors early is very beneficial. Watch out for the competitors, as they may swerve across the road, trying to bumb you off the road. Freeway Track Distance: 2.62 Miles Vehicle Used: Super GT When this race begins, drive to the left of the competitors to pass them. But also watch for oncoming traffic. There are a few corners where you may want to slow down a little. But once you are on the freeway, go full speed. Stay on the right shoulder to avoid traffic. Slow down when you exit the off-ramp. Into the Country Track Distance: 5.22 Miles Vehicle Used: Bullet The Bullet is one fast car! And this race has long-ass straightaways, so use them! When you get near Montgomery, slow down so you can enter the freeway without losing contorl. Once you're on the freeway, put the Blade's speed back into use. Badlands A Track Distance: 2.99 Miles Vehicle Used: Sabre This is a race full of curves. But at the beginning, it's not curvy. So get ahead of your competitors early. At one point in the race, you will need to jump a barn, which is also a Unique Stunt Jump. If you don't have enough speed, go around it. After, when climbing the mountain dirt road, lookm for the shortcut. This shortcut is easy to see, as it has a police bribe in it. The competitors will most likely not use this shortcut. This race only pays out $5,000 Badlands B Track Distance: 2.99 Miles Vehicle Used: ZR-350 This race is the same as the previous race, only in reverse, and the vehicle is a ZR-350. Don't cut any other corners in this race other than the shortcut mentioned above. If you do, you may miss the wooden bridge, and lose all chances at winning. This race also pays only $5,000. San Fierro Race Tournaments There are 6 races available in San Fierro. Follow the checkflag to the place where you can select the races. The San Fierro Races are: Dirtbike Danger Bandito Country Go-Go Carting San Fierro Fastlane San Fierro Hills Country Endurance Dirtbike Danger Track Distance: 1.99 Miles Vehicle Used: Sanchez This is an off-road dirt bike race through the Back O' Beyond in Flint County. Get CJ's bike skills up to make this race easier. The Sanchez is the best bike for off road, but it's light and sometimes difficult to handle. Get ahead of the competitors early and it's smooth sailing from then on. Edited August 2, 2006 by thedude777
thedude777
Bandito Country Track Distance: 2.02 Miles Vehicle Used: Bandito The Bandito can do amazing stunts & jump due to it's low center of gravity. Watch out after checkpoint 9. Veer to the right and the place where a police bribe sits. Cross there and you're good. Go-Go Carting Track Distance: 1.18 Miles Vehicle Used: Kart The Kart has a very sensitive steering. While doing this race, try hard to keep control. A difficult thing to do is trying to drive the Kart through the alleys without hitting a dumpster. Use other straightaways to make up for time lost in the alleys. San Fierro Fastlane Track Distance: 1.64 Miles Vehicle Used: Alpha This isn't really the best car to race with, but you gotta live with it. This race has a few corners, but mainly straightaways. Take it easy on the corners, while speeding along the straightaways. San Fierro Hills Track Distance: 5.20 Miles Vehicle Used: Phoenix This is the 2nd longest of the San Fierro races, and the only place to get a Phoenix. The Phoenix is a great car to race with. It handles well around corners, which is good as there are a lot of corners in this race. Use the Phoenix's amazing high speed on the straightaways, and leave the competitors in the dust. Country Endurance Track Distance: 6.68 Miles Vehicle Used: Bullet This is the longest of the San Fierro races. You also get to drive one of the fastest cars in the game, the Bullet. But one competitor may be a problem. He is driving a Banshee. Keep your car in good condition. Overtake the other competitors early so you can focus on the Banshee. You may not overtake him until the end. Las Venturas Airport Freight Depot Race Tournaments There are 4 races available in this section of the Las Venturas races. Follow the checkflag to the place where you can select the races. The Los Santos Races are: San Fierro to Las Ventuas Dam Rider Desert Tricks Las Venturas Ringroad San Fierro to Las Venturas Track Distance: 4.85 Miles Vehicle Used: Banshee The race contains only 1 sharp corner, which is near the end. So you can go speed along, and take the lead without having to worry about sharp corners. The 1 sharp corner is at the end, so when you are about to exit the freeway, slow down so you can turn. During the part of the race through Bone County, drive near the shoulder or in the center of the freeway. Dam Rider Track Distance: 2.67 Miles Vehicle Used: NRG-500 As with every other race where you are using a bike, lean forward for extra speed. This race also has some tricky corners, so be aware of them. Take it easy on the corners, and speed along on the straightaways. You'll know if you are near the end when you start crossing the Sherman Dam. Desert Tricks Track Distance: 2.91 Miles Vehicle Used: FCR-500 This is a race full of tricky turns and has some tough competitors. Use the straightaways for speed and gaining ground, while taking it easy on the corners. In this race, there are quite a few places where you can cut corners. Las Venturas Ringroad Track Distance: 3.70 Miles Vehicle Used: Turismo As you can see, this race is in a clockwise direction along Julius Thruway, and you're driving one of the absolute fastest cars in the game, the Turismo. With the Turismo, you can leave the competitors in the dust on the 1st straighaway. Also, drive on the right shoulder to avoid traffic, except for the occasional motorist exiting the freeway. You don't need to go directly through the checkpoints, so you can stay on the right shoulder for most of the race. Las Venturas Airport Race Tournaments There are 6 races available in the Las Venturas Airport. Follow the checkflag to the place where you can select the races. The Los Santos Races are: World War Aces Barnstorming Military Service Chopper Checkpoint Whirly Bird Waypoint Heli Hell World War Aces Track Distance: 4.24 Miles Vehicle Used: Rustler These last 6 missions are probably the hardest as you have to fly planes. The Rustler is a good plane to use. When the race starts, don't forget to retract your landing gear, so you'll go faster. These races may take a while to complete, so don't get fustrated if you fail them a few times. Edited September 11, 2005 by thedude777
thedude777
Barnstorming Track Distance: 7.64 Miles Vehicle Used: Stuntplane In this race, you are using the Stuntplane. The Stuntplane's controls are extremely sensitive. Do most of you're lateral turning using the and buttons. Also, make small altitude adjustments. The Stuntplane does not have a retractable landing gear. Military Service Track Distance: 10.80 Miles Vehicle Used: Hydra This is the longest of all the races. You also must fly the Hydra. The Hydra flies like a helicopter, not a plane. Once the race starts, retract the landing gear for more speed. This race goes very close to Area 69, the Military base. If you fly over Area 69, you are given 5 stars and SAM (surface-to-air missles) will be fired at you. If this happens, press Circle to use the Hydra's chaff. This causes the missles to goes for the chaff instead of the Hydra itself. Keep releasing chaff's until no more SAM's are fired at you. Chopper Checkpoint Track Distance: 3.05 Miles Vehicle Used: Maverick This race is easy compared to the last race, Military Service. Take your time and get it right the 1st time, then try to beat your best time later. Whirly Bird Waypoint Track Distance: 2.73 Miles Vehicle Used: Maverick This race isn't as easy as it looks. Most of the checkpoints are placed in hard-to-reach areas. Take your time in this race, as there's no room for major mistakes. Heli Hell Track Distance: 3.08 Miles Vehicle Used: Hunter That's right, you get to fly to Hunter in this race. This race is fairly easy, except for checkpoint's 11 & 17. Checkpoint 11 is underneath a network of raised freeways. Steadily fly your way under the freeways, being careful not to hit it. Checkpoint 17 is also underneath a raised freeway. Use the same technique you used for checkpoint 11. If you see any mistakes, please report them to me. Edited August 2, 2006 by thedude777

Spuds725
I noticed you posted up the wrong pic for "little loop"-- thats definitely not "little loop"-- Also have the wrong pic for LV ringroad. Also wrong pic for country endurance. (and you might have swapped the 2 maps for whirlybird waypoint and chopper checkpoint-- this one I'm not sure of but I could have sworn chopper checkpoint was in SF) nice formatting-- good guide (after corrections are made) Edited September 11, 2005 by Spuds725 Spuds' GTA V 100% Checklist // My IV & Vice City Videos "I want to design a video game where you take care of all the people shot in all the other video games.... Mxyzptlk
You should mention finishing first in all races is needed for 100%, and you earn $1,000,000 for it. For barnstorming, I would tap the accelerator the entire race, never holding it down; for more control. For military service, I would leave the landing gear down, and swivel thrusters to a 45 degree angle.
Whacko
Hi, just a little hint on the Low Rider Race in Los Santos. Use a low rider without hydraulics, Voodoo (untuned) f.e. It´s a lot slower but much easier to handle than Blade or Savanna.
*Mr.GTA*
Nice guide it really helps, congratulations for your Karma star Thedude777.
watchcap
You should probably also mention that holding down the accelerator, even with full driving skill and good reaction time will not let you win the race... the AI driving is too stupid to let you do that. major underscore
i guess what im looking for is a little red area and probably the race vechiles mentioned above stands nearbye it? You should look for a chequered (black and white) flag on the map. Enter the little red area at those location to be able to choose a street race event. From GTA-SanAndreas.com: "All four locations for the race challenges are: - Little Mexico, Los Santos - Downtown, San Fierro - LVA Freight Depot, Las Venturas - Las Venturas Airport (Checkpoint Challenges)"
