Vice City In San Andreas

Recommended Posts

I am starting on a mod to put vice city into the San Andreas game engine.

This mod will replace the SA Map.

I have started with converting the textures from GTA3.IMG and currently have converted all the textures into the San Andreas Format.

I am currently starting on the models.

I will probably need help on how to get this to be recognized in game and any assistance on this mod would be appreciated.

NO! You should stop now and join one of the teams alrady doing this!

No one will join you kinowing that you are doing what is already being done. If you are serious enough to want to LEAD a project of such a size, then I'm sure you will be much appreciated by one of the other teams and will shine there. I do not suggest you make another of the same exact mod, especially when everyone else is closer and closer to being done. Just some advice. Do what you will, but I really suggest you help the others.

In fact, I kinda think that if you continue your plan without helping others that I will think of you as bad apple who wants not to help his community friends confused.gif

Because if you help that team finish, then you can use vice cities map to start your new mod! See? But if you be stubborn and not help, then you will need to do all this on your own with whoever is dumb enough to help because they don't know this is already being done, and somewhat competetively. Good luck however you choose to go about it, but if you help a team finish, I'm sure you'll be allowed to use the SA version of VC in your mod after! wink.gif

Edit: wrong section, this is a request wink.gif

I cannot see anyone doing this specific mod. There are plenty doing all in ones but I cant see anyone doing just vice.

but someone is working on putting vc in sa, maybe just not vc on its own but I think he just means if you want vc in sa, help them.

then you could use just vc in a mod on its own if you wanted because everything would have already been converted over and your contribution could help speed up the prosses instead of you doing it on your own and the other mod getting finished that little bit later than it could have

Yeah to tell you the truth I have not seen anyone start a VC on SA engine project maybe something close like the GTA:LVS mod but no VC replace SA project.

simonmpoulton just as a suggestion you should post pics of what you got so far on this VC on SA engine that is what will draw peoples attention and they will most likely be glad to help you because they know that since you started on this they know that you will do this unlike the other people that just talk but never come through.

Hi

Well i'd love to give you screenshots of my current work but unfortunately no matter what I try the converted parts are not recognized in game even though I have converted them to SA and have made the relevant IPL/IDE files along with the relevant changes to GTA.DAT. When I go to the location I have added the object to there is nothing just not loaded.

If anyone knows why this has happenned then can you point me in the correct direction.

Well I do not know much about VC but lets try this method that I am about to tell you. Map Clean your SA then from there create a new img file that you can put all of the VC dff files then from there just convert the VC dff's to SA format and put them in the new img file. after that insert the IPL's and IDE's from the VC folder since they just tell you where to put the dffs and stuff and make sure that the gta.dat has the new img included and just insert the txd and insert the col files from VC in the data/maps and then go to the coordinates ingame that the IPL has for that dff and see what happens.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is your draw distance set correctly?

Why are you still continuing? The other mods are almost done.

There will be NOTHING wrong with you using the SA converted VC models for whatever you want. Just wait a bit and use that fresh install for those files, they've done a good job wink.gif

Yeah only a Prawn Island that is alot I mean if this guy has alot of time then he should do a really cool VC on SA engine Project I mean xrk did and look at how far he has gotten with the LC project he got all of Liberty City in the game now just some models but that is all of Liberty City, Right now the LVS team has only Prawn Island and they have been with LVS team longer that when xrk started the LC project.

Good luck to you on the VC on SA project.

I might as well release this:

Vice City SA Mod

Might not be much but it is part of the end product!

Note this is only the converted start up movie!

To install:

Extract all files to your GTA San Andreas/Movies folder

Replace the files already in there.

If anyone wishes to help then it would be great if they could help converting models and with one extra person it should half the time it will take to complete this mod.

Yeah hope to see some screens of your VC project for SA I do like VC and LC but not SA. Not much of a converter at all sorry. Are you using Map Cleaner to clean SA for your VC.

Please post screens of what you have done so far that will draw peoples attention to help you convert the VC models.

I know this was allready pointed out but your right no one else is doing a just-vice-city conversion for san andreas. Best of luck with your mod. I wish I could help you but I know nothing about game modding...... but I would also like to point out to the other teams out there doing an all in one mod that the liberty city map has been converted to san andreas and the beta does work I have it. So if vice city was out too that would help the all-in-one-ers tremendously. Just my opinion....

Edit: thanks [email protected]

Don't even think about starting your wasting your time someone else has already has started a better idea. GTA SA - VC - LC all in one. You can find there site at www.gta-lvs.com and you can find there forst tralier here: http://www.madness.chumhost.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87

Nop, Sorry I have to say it, Your best to use your skills on other projects

There is already 5 teams almost doing the same thing..

1. XCR's Team. (First team with the idea for LC on the SA engine.)

2. LVS Team.

3. German Modding Team (Not sure of your name, don't mean to be rude), from GTAForums.de (VC on the SA engine)

4. GTASA: LVC (Both VC and LC on the SA engine, with VC West and LC East, with a new 3rd Island below LC), Progress 87%, This project should be dunzo in January 2006.

5. The GTA ULTRA Team have joined up with us, and we are working on GTA: SOL. (State of liberty)

This mod is based on the VC engine that includes LC with features taken from the SA engine, thus includes alot of new islands and ideas (this version has LC North and VC South).

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=200363&st=480

Progress 96%, This project should be released sometime soon.

hmm.. I like vice city. It would be fun trying to parachute straight onto one of the buildings, but then you'd need to redo every piece of collision confused.gif.

(lets not start a Mod'off, LVS team have ripped it first, but we know who really started the first LC mod for VC.

Georgehenry can you please stop confusing everyones work with the LVS team, becuase you see it posted on this GTA forum, doesn't mean that the LVS team have created it)
