da gta master
I dont know whever anyone else has experienced the xbox version of gta3. The changes are quite dramatic on the gameplay. It just makes you want to turn it off straight away, not at all like the ps2 version. These are the things I have noticed that are different and sorta ruined it... Shiny Cars - Why do they look like theyve just come off pimp my ride? Handling - Just bloody terrible on every car. Damage - This is the worst, cars blow up after fewer smashs/bumps etc. I dont have the xbox version myself but was playing it at my friends house. Couldnt do anything in a car for long. Just caught fire. Very annoying, Has anyone else noticed these problems? OR More problems??
jacobjc12
I got to say that sucks for your friend but I wish they would make GTA3 for Nintendo Gamecube just without the added (and crappy) features that are included in the XBOX version
Opius
There's no gameplay changes to the game. Handling and damage are due to your inexperience with the controller. And you're telling me you would PREFER the half-assed specularity of the PS2 and PC versions over env-mapped goodness?
da gta master
Yes Im fine with the controls at my friends house, I just switch them to Classic so its like the PS2 version. But seriously it is a lot different in a not good partish way.

da gta master
Must be my friends version because he grew up using an xbox and he says ps2 version is much better.
Demarest
And you're telling me you would PREFER the half-assed specularity of the PS2 and PC versions over env-mapped goodness? Yes. GTA3's atmosphere still can't be beat even by SA's breathtaking landscapes. It just had that FEEL that shiny cars don't fit into. As it is, having a card that uses anisotropic filtering makes them shinier than they should be. he grew up using an xbox XBox hasn't been out long enough for anybody to be able to use that phrase I grew up playing Atari 2600 and the NES. The latter was 20 years ago. Hint: a person can use the phrase "grew up playing" only after they've grown up. Takes longer than 2-3 years No offense intended. He got the xbox straight after it came out and hadnt touched a ps2 until he played it at my house. Im sure its different.
Demarest
While I don't deny the inherent differences ports carry unintentionally, OP's post speaks to the numerals that decide such things. So while what you're saying is bourne of perception and by default true even if it's negligible or in ways you didn't mean, his statement is true also. You guys are just talking about apples and oranges in a way. BTW, is it easier to jump the broken bridge first thing on PS2 or XBox? You probably didn't think to try, but I'm curious just the same if you have a way of finding out. On PC it's dead easy, but on PS2, it took me several tries because controls are restricted to cardinal directions. So I had to face Fido west, tell him to go north, and jump when he was in mid twist in such a way that he just happened to be facing the correct angle. MOBMAN
The cars are a little TOO shiney in the Xbox version, but nothing to write home about. The best job of real time reflections are in SA or even better,Liberty City Stories because they keep that worn out look.Controlsv are the same on "classic" mode, but arn';t as smooth as the PS2.It looks better than the PS2,the textures look more realistic as does the lighting.Love the playing my own music.Always listening to my early 90's rock
