Psyc Posted September 7, 2005 Share Posted September 7, 2005 Ok, I have a problem when I'm doing missions inside a building. CJ doesn't run/sprint/whatever. Like in the mission where you break into the bank at Caligula's. I have to either crouch or walk. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm using a gamepad with SAAC. The only times CJ runs is when he is walking down stairs, but when he touches the ground, he quickly goes back to the slow running position. spaceeinstein Posted September 7, 2005 Share Posted September 7, 2005 ^lol There are five types of on-foot movements: crouch, walk, run, sprint, and super sprint. Just pressing the Foward button makes you run. Add a Sprint button and you Sprint, Tap the Sprint button and you super sprint. So in a way, CJ can already run in interiors. Kremit Posted September 8, 2005 Share Posted September 8, 2005 I noticed CJ can only run in certain places... like some of the main section of Caligula's... the concrete platforms inside the Four Dragon's Casino... while others you can't... like safe houses in general. A small trick I learned in GTA:VC while doing rampage missions with rocket launchers, flame throwers and mini-guns... if you can't run, jump... and jump... and jump again. However, it seems like in San Andreas, CJ pauses momentarily after landing his jump.. so I'm not sure how much extra time this saves. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On the rug, CJ runs slower, but when you hit the wood floor inlay in the foyer he speeds up for a few steps, then he slows again when you hit the carpet. There's a property "cant sprint on" for the surfaces "carpet" and "floorboard". You can change it to allow sprinting indoors. Edit data\surfinfo.dat, go down to the CARPET and FLOORBOARD lines. There's a bunch of zeros with a 1 roughly in the middle: CARPET HARD 1.0 -0.25 DEFAULT SPARKS 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 DUST CARPET FLOORBOARD HARD 1.0 -0.25 DEFAULT SPARKS 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 WOOD FLOORBOARD Change the 1 to a zero like this: CARPET HARD 1.0 -0.25 DEFAULT SPARKS 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 DUST CARPET FLOORBOARD HARD 1.0 -0.25 DEFAULT SPARKS 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 WOOD FLOORBOARD In the actual file the numbers are more spaced out.
