Neo-K 182
http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/doom/ After looking at this it's very obvious that it's based off of Doom3. With the weapons and even the way the demons look, it's almost exactly from Doom3. One thing i find very interesting is the 1st Person filming. What makes me wonder is if part of the movie is actually filmed in this way or if it was just something they did for the trailer. With this new trailer though, i still dont think it's going to be an excelent movie, but i think it will be a good action flick nonetheless. So, thoughts? comments? anyone else like the 1st person view? *Edit* also if anyone knows the song from it could you post it. i cant figure it out. Antinark
Looks great for a video game... but for a movie... i think it would have been a lot better if it was one guy wandering though the dark and picking up peices of the stories from PDA's, like the game was structured. The first person camera shooting looks really synthetic.
Guybrush Threepwood
I'm going to wait it out and watch the dvd. The idea of movies based on video games is very good and should work for some. But definitely not all. And as I am writing this I can't think of one movie based on a video game that was actually good. With the exception of Resident Evil perhaps, as it was a decent movie, but not much special. We'll just have to see
Neo-K 182
Super Mario brothers kicked ass though lol. the 1st resident evil wasn't to bad. as for this, we'll just have to wait and see. i'm personally going to see it in theaters cause i love doom. just hope i wont be too disapointed. Brown Streak RR
A.. non-interactive videogame? Yay. That's how I feel after watching the trailer. Don't get me wrong, I liked movies such as Tomb Raider, but most non-deep story games don't make great movies. Remember, video games focus on playing, not the story. Movies are just the opposite. The footage looks cool, but won't you feel out of place without a controller in hand? Hook up DOOM, the video game, to your big screen. You'll have more fun. That's what I think at this stage. I obviously can't say too much because none of us has seen the movie. But still.

Yuck Fou
They're actually shooting it from a First Person perspective? That's... innovative, I guess.
Neo-K 182
i'm not sure if it's filmed in that 1st person. that might just be something they did for the trailer. might not be. i'm probably gonna see it opening night so i'll let everyone know. also, anyone know the song in the trailer? Guybrush Threepwood
Tomb Raider was good. Have you been licking the totem pole? You have, haven't you. Tomb Raider was definitely NOT a good movie. I admit, her tits were nice, but the movie blew worse then a two-dollar prostitute. She's going to recover the mystical artifacts from devilish villians! Oh no, haven't we all been there! No, we haven't. Because Indiana Jones took all the good artifacts, and with it, all the good scripts.
anuj
I'll watch it in theater. $5 ain't that much. The movie istelf doesn't look bad, but I just wish I could see a movie where a 'squad' is sent in, WASN'T efficiently hacked to bits, with only a lone survivor. GTA3Freak-2001
Tomb Raider wasn't that bad as far as typical action flicks go. As far as Doom the movie, I don't like the whole genetics thing it should be the portal to hell situation that was present in the actual game. The first-person thing I gather is just a small effect used throughout the film much like bullet-time to make the connection to the game more apparant. Neo-K 182
well in Doom3 if you listen to all the video disks that you pick up you find out that while researching the demons that were taken back from hell they were trying to discover the rest of the human genome. so it's possible that they still come through the gate and that. though still they should talk more about the teleportation instead of the genome. i'm with Anuj though, sucks always seeing movies like this and only one person survives. at least we know the rock will die in this one. as he plays sarge, who in the game dies. though maybe they'll change that too lol. Well yeah good point, it was basically your general purpose reasearch lab but the movie seems to imply that the monsters are caused from the genetic crap they were doing on humans.
