I am trying to make slight changes to a SA vehicle model for personal use and I am trying to figure out what the .col file I need is. Do I have to create it or can I use an exsiting file? I am using Kams import/export script.

ok, so i refered to that post, imported a car. Now when I use kams export tool I have to select a .col file before I can export. What file do I use?

alright, export infernus.dff from the imgtool2.0 {make sure it's the original san andreas infernus.dff} then use that 'dff' as a coll 3 file.

select coll3 import/ then open the infernus.dff

alright, thanks for the help, that worked well. Now should that work if I edit the model in anyway? Can I still use the same original dff file as the col file?

Col file will provide the collision data for the model only, so it shouldn't stop working due to changes in the display model, but may well become inaccurate (as it won't change with the car model unless you change it yourself...), if you get me.

Basically the col will provide the "physical solidness" and such properties of the vehicle in game physics terms, in the shape of the col itself, whatever the car's shape and size "looks like". That's the whole of the association as I understood it, but you can get a much better idea of it by doing a search maybe at the tutorials area or these parts of the forum.
