Rob.
Let me guess the batch file you unloaded, unloaded fine, but then it skipped all the wmv's. oh and if you get into the car the radio don't work becuase the only place where the audio is is on the disc. if you do have the game and haven't done the naughty thing above and you "found" it on the internet then, yes buy the game. If you own the game legally then install a better Direct X... ithink anyways, Good Luck whatever happens
Wannie The Sane
Why does everyone seem to assume that if you have a problem with the game it's because you didn't buy it? I'm actually having a very similar problem, and I definately bought the game. I will admit, I download games from time to time, but I have boughten every GTA game since GTA3 (I downloaded the earlier ones ), because if a company is as good as Rockstar I feel it's only right to support them. I've played GTA:VC numerous times. I've installed it numerous times. I finished GTA:SA awhile ago, and I decided to reinstall VC so I could try out Long Night. The problem is I have no sounds except for the radio and sometimes when I exit the car I hear sounds like rain or wind. I can not hear engine noises or gun shots or whatnot. I've never had a problem with audio in VC before, and I haven't changed my computer. I also tried reinstalling VC and checking it out without Long Night added, still no sound. I have a Sound Blaster Live Value card with latest drivers. Yet, in the option menu i can not select any option (including Creative and Auto Detect) except for a card which I certainly don't have... Rad or something. Any suggestions? (and sorry for the book I just wrote)
Wannie The Sane
This thread actually helped me I think. I knew I had the newest version of DirectX, but since everyone was talking about it I decided to check. I ran diagdx from the run menu and then went to the sound menu. I had turned off my hardware support, or whatever it's called, a little slide bar near the bottom of the screen. I knewe I'd had similar problems with GTA:SA and I figured the solution might be similar but I couldn't remember what I had done. I now remember, I had disabled hardware acceleration. My advice is to make sure it is on.

radioman
I found out from personal experiance, that if you have 2 or more user names set up on your computer(more than one user name when you can click change users from the start screen). All the sounds will only work if you play the game under the user name that it was installed to.
