I just made this banner for my Ford chat topic, and I need some ideas on how to make it better.

I don't really like how you have the gridlines that give a sort of techy look to the banner, but then you have the old fogie Ford font. I'm also not all that keen on the lack of contrast of the whole banner.

 

But I guess it's allright for just a topic banner.

I like it, good job. Though it can be improved allot more, like the erasing the grid lines on top of the car, or just move car layers over the grid. Give it a try with more contrast and a bit less brightness or vice versa and see if it makes it a bit better as well.

I hate the whole desat + red colorization thing. It just doesn't work, and makes the whole image just feel bland. Other than that I guess it's okay.

Trust me you didn't want to see the highly saturated version, it was not pretty, it looked as cheesy as it can get. And made it look like I did this in five minutes instead of five hours.~TGK

You won't listen to what i'll say but i'll say it anyway.

 

Make the text maybe black, and one or two sizes up. Make the cars and title without the gridlines over it.

 

But apart from that, i like.

My suggestions would be:

 

• Loose the opacity on the cars.
• Border should always be the top layer.
• Make the text stand out more, larger font size and/or a shadow.
• Don't like the grid, does'nt fit with the image. If you feel that you need something like that, try scanlines instead.
• I also feel that it's a bit to large in height.

I thought there was a small borderish line there? I think that border is fine for what he's doing.

Mostly everything could be a lil darker, and to save me listing the majority of other people's suggestions I'll just say this, I hate the way the two cars slightly overlap the border. You should make a new layer over them and put a black 1/2 px border. It's ok overall though I guess.

Put the border layer on top.

Give the border a black color.

Put the FORD Logo, the text, those lines and the cars on top of the grid layer.

Put a glow around the FORD logo.

Make the cars, the text and the FORD logo stand out more.

Try to use more than one color.

And lower the opacity of the grid layer.

 

That's about it.
