[REL|SA] San Andreas Mod Installer v1.0

Recommended Posts

After many hours in the making and thousands of lines of code, I'm proud to announce the release of San Andreas Mod Installer (SAMI). For those of you who haven't read the other thread, here's an overview of what SAMI can do:

San Andreas Mod Installer (SAMI) allows you to install mods and custom vehicles made for GTA San Andreas

without having to edit the game files yourself. SAMI practically does all of the work for you, which makes mod

installing (and uninstalling) as easy as a few clicks.

> Download San Andreas Mod Installer v1.1<

UPDATE: SAMI v1.1 has now been released! Use the same download link posted above, or use the auto-update feature (if you already have v1.0) to upgrade to v1.1.

Changes in v1.1:

-Fixed bug with cars that have larger than normal wheels

-Fixed several bugs when replacing vehicles that don't use a carcols.dat line (i.e. "hydra")

-Will now remember the last used mod source path\file (rather than defaulting to the desktop every time)

-Automatically highlights the replacement vehicle that the custom car was intended to replace

-Fixed minor problem with update prompt asking more than once when SAMI is ran for the first time

-Fixed minor InsertText scripter problem with wrong "Insert Position" selection when modifying the command

-Fixed a couple minor problems when manually changing San Andreas directory

-Scripts can now be more than one "level" deep in a ZIP\RAR file's structure

-Several minor changes to the design

-New version of installer used to install SAMI (should fix errors that some people were having)

-Several other minor changes

---

You can find pre-created scripts for some of the mods that are currently out. They are located in the scripts section of www.SanAndreasModInstaller.com.

-----------------------------------------------

SAMI FEATURES:

General Features:

-Appealing and unique designs for each page

-Automatically detects game directory

-Install any custom vehicle automatically

-Install any other mod type if a script is included

-Use scripts as "instructions" for installing a non-vehicle mod

-ZIP and RAR support. Automatically extracts ZIP\RAR files and installs the mod

-Install mods from any folder on your computer

-Right click on any mod that is a ZIP or RAR file and click "Install With SAMI" for easy mod installing

-Automatic update. Very flexible update engine.

-If update is found, it will be downloaded automatically

-Automatically backs up all existing files before the mod is installed

Uninstalling Mods:

-An "Uninstall A Mod" features allows you to uninstall mods (restore backups created prior to install)

-Automatically finds and list all mods that can be uninstalled

-Very easy mod removal. Just choose the mod to remove and then press "Uninstall"

Scripter:

-Includes an integrated Scripter, which allows you to easily create script files

-Provides extended help for each script action you create

-Right click any script (.sami file) and choose "Edit With SAMI's Scripter" for easier editing

-Create new script, or edit an existing script

-Duplicate commands for faster script creation

-Easily arrange how commands are ordered in the script

-Batch add FileAdd or ImgAdd commands when working with many files

Automatic Vehicle Detection and Installation:

-Finds all DFF\TXD files included with the vehicle

-Detects multiple DFF\TXD files and ask user which one to use

-Detects all handling.cfg, carcols.dat, and vehicles.ide lines included with the vehicle

-If multiple handling\color\ide lines are found, user is asked which one to use

-User can modify handling\color\ide lines if desired. Lines are checked for errors before accepted.

-If vehicle doesn't have included handling, color, or ide lines then the original "factory default" line will be used.

-Existing vehicle is backed up before it's replaced with the new one (to allow uninstalls)

-User can choose which vehicle to replace, even if the custom vehicle wasn't intended to replace it

-All information (dff, txd, handling, ide line, colors) will be adjusted automatically for the vehicle it is replacing

Script Mod Installing (for non-vehicle mods):

-If a script is released with the mod (or is later available), then the mod can be installed with SAMI

-All files and information will be backed up before the mod is installed (to allow uninstalls)

-All actions are done according to the information in the script (no input is required from the user)

-Actions in a script are performed in the order they are positioned in the script file

-Mod information is displayed before the mod is installed (mod name, email, website, description, etc)

-Ability to include multiple scripts with a single mod. Useful if there's multiple options for installing the mod.

-Script installing supports many useful commands:

-Add a file to an IMG archive

-Delete a file from an IMG archive

-Extract a file from an IMG archive

-Execute a file within the game directory

-Add a file anywhere within the game directory

-Delete a file anywhere within the game directory

-Rename a file anywhere within the game directory

-Copy a file to another location

-Move a file to another location

-Insert a line of text to any text-based file

-Delete a line of text from any text-based file

-Replace a line of text from any text-based file

-Create a new folder anywhere within the game directory

-Delete a new folder anywhere within the game directory

-Rename a new folder anywhere within the game directory

Could you post the error message? Also, make sure you're selecting a valid folder (it must be the folder that has the gta_sa.exe file).

As for the back button, I noticed I forgot it on one screen (the vehicle selection screen) but it should be on every other page. Something else I noticed is that the minimize\close buttons don't work for two of the pages. However, I have corrected that (as well as added that one missing back button) and am reuploading it now.

I knew this would happen. I would miss a couple small little things. blush.gif

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a couple of complicated mods already installed on my game so i decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it, but after completing the reinstallation, I, I, ... I can't find my DVD-ROM disc of SA! I can't find it, cuz I nevr needed it with the no-DVD crack, but now, now look at me.... I'm nothing, I'm so disspointed in myself. i'm going to sit in my corner and cry... cry... Then I'll work my ass off into the night trying to find this DVD if its the last thing i do... I'm sorry SAMi, I'm so sorry.... sad.gifcry.gifcryani.gifsuicidal.gifturn.gif

custom vechile name seem not working.

Hmm, that is not part of the error messages that I made, it's with the Autoplay Media Studio itself. Could you tell me when this happens? Try to be a little descriptive so that I can try and figure out why it's doing that.

i just choose a different install path, that's all

it not on C drive, it is a different HD drive

Ah I found what it was. It's a slight bug with the installer. Whenever you change the install location, go ahead and remove the "C:\Program Files\San Andreas Mod Installer" from the path. Then it should work.

Sorry about that. I will correct it ASAP. I'll let you know when I do and then you can redownload it.

I did tend to want to rush the installer. I spent all of my time testing the complicated stuff, but missed a few smaller bugs. blush.gif

Alright, I have corrected the problem and have re-uploaded the file. Please re-download it using the same download link (in the first post).

EDIT:

I have started creating scripts for non-vehicle mods so that they can be installed with SAMI. Please check the end of the first post for a list of scripts. The list will be growing daily.

I have downloaded and played with this mod for a little while, no problems here. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see any future modifications you contribute.

PS: You might want to change your sig so it says SAMI- Released inlove.gif.

Oh yeah, good idea! Thanks for reminding me. smile.gif

This is great! Only one thing: I wanted a 'Add all files to IMG from folder'.. It would make life more then 3341 times easier for those mods putting LC and VC and whatever into your mod installer..

But still, I'm satisfied with what you've done.

;sarcasm starts here

Oh yes, I'm going to go and decompile SAMI and get the source.. MUHAHAHAHAHAHHA *cough*

;sarcasm ends here

sorry, just had to do it

Nipa

EDIT; I just noticed that Update ain't working! It connects, then just gives me a error saying not being able to update.. maybe you should put a sample update file (if it does the old way of just reading a file on the internet telling the current version and if version higher, download newer version).

For adding multiple ImgAdd commands all at the same time, in the Scripter click "Batch Add". Then you should find the option you're looking for.

As for the update not working (as said in the first post), the website for SAMI is not yet operational, so you will get an error while trying to update. Once I have the website up and working correctly, the update will work. smile.gif It should just be a few days and then the website will be operating smoothly.

Very nice.

But I have one question.

Which language is this programmed in?

C++? Delphi? VB?

Well believe it or not, it's no major programming language. I used a program called "AutoPlay Media Studio v5". However, it is a lot like visual basic......except even easier. smile.gif

I mean.

Hotkeys.

When you are in the mainscreen then if you press 'S' on your keyboard that you goes to 'Scripting'. But than with all buttons.

I suppose I could do something like that if you would use it. I figured it was just easy enough to click the button. But maybe you have something up your sleave with the usage of hotkeys. smile.gif

might be a problem with your install i dunno but i made a script wich extracts files from gta3.img for a backup deletes the file and then adds the new one also made it delete handling.cfg, carcols.dat,carmods.dat vehicles.ide, main.scm and script .img and make it place the new ones there but near the end of the game loading it crashed :S i dotn think its a problem with a car or any scm code

il try find out the problem just letting you know though
