GT-1
With the introduction of various new rules and Updated Existing Rules we felt it was necessary to have a couple more led-by's for this section of the forum to enforce the rules where necessary. Majestik has been removed as led-by due to inactivity for the moment, but if he returns he can be implemented back into his deserved role. If you have any questions/queries/problems regarding anything in this particular area of the website then PM one of the newly appointed led-by's. The newly appointed staff here are Dup, ashdexx and STM. Don't be afraid to PM them, they are all well known in the scene and all have previous/current staff experience and things will continue as normal. This was created on the simple basis that if anyone has questions etc. about the newer rules then they know who to ask. Other staff may be able to help out, though it is recommended that you ask these first.
BenMillard
Not too long ago Dup was absolutely adamanent over MSN that he was compeletely leaving the GTA scene forever. Has that changed? In the Mod Showroom Format thread, could you recomend people use curved brackets (parenthesese) instead of square brackets? Square brackets corrupt the author field in quote tags, meaning that the correct topic title cannot be entered when quoting from topics using the current title specification. Curved brackets are prettier, too! Reformatting the rules threads so they do not use underlines for non-hyperlink text would be better. Using a larger, emboldened font for headings makes them stand out more. Using either bold or italics for emphasised text is a much tidier way to format these passages. In the formatting thread, there is normally a blank line between paragraphs (which is good) but in the "Releasing Other Mods" section, the "Exceptions" paragraph follows on immediatly after the previous paragraph without a blank line. This creates a big lump of text rather than two neatly seperated paraghraphs. Some the the sentences are extremely complicated and could be simplified using lists and other structural elements. There seems to be character garbage around the "Other" word in the "Releasing Other Mods" title. I think the rules topics should be unlocked to allow public discussion about them. The first post will always contain the most up to date edition of the staff policy, so allowing public posting would not reduce the visibility of the policy. Public discussion would allow emerging problems to be raised by mod authors, converters, users and enable the staff to make clear what their position is on these issues as they arise. Keeping policy discussions in the policy threads rather than having debates and arguments raging in release topics is another obvious benefit. Combining the various policy threads into one thread would also be an improvement as more people would be prepared to read them, they wouldn't seem so intimidating and all policy discussions would be in one thread. The risks of duplication and inconsistant styling, contradicting policy and so on would be eliminated, too. I hope these adaptations will be considered because the staff should do everything they can to remove any excuse rules violators can come up with. A clearly formatted, clearly written rules topic which allowed public discussion would remove excuses like "I didn't understand" or "I didn't know" or "I didn't know where/who to ask" and so on. Diesel
Why is ash a ledby? Not that I don't love ash, but he's already a global mod. Though I guess it's hard to think of another person as well-suited.
GT-1
Over the last month Dup stated his interest in helping out again in the modding scene. If you search for his posts around this area over the given time period he sets a suitable example for all to follow. He has helped push a few ideas along and with certain new rules he was a suitable candidate as a led-by. ashdexx was added as a led-by to enforce the rules as stated in the first post. Yes he is a global moderator, but this way any reported posts are sent to the appointed forum led-bys to deal with rather than the whole of the global staff who may have less knowledge on the situation. I’ll look into the proposals Cerbera.
iRloading
@cerbie: rule threads unlocked, them gonna be swamped with naysayers, conflicting views and opinions rather messy if you want to keep the rules looking neat and tidy~ although it might be better to have a splash screen with all the rules and hubbub before entering (complete with agree/disagree buttons~ muhaha) and the big 'ol red letters up tharr, in bigger bolder letters~
BenMillard
Did the suggestions get discussed at all? I havn't seen any public words from the staff about this and I've had a couple of PMs from members who are confused about the situation regarding conversions. Suction Testicle Man
Not too long ago Dup was absolutely adamanent over MSN that he was compeletely leaving the GTA scene forever. Has that changed? Very much so, but I will let Dup post here to support that statement. I believe the current squared brackets aren't so bad, and changing them may confuse those inexperienced with forums the ways in which we work. If more people are in favour of this, they are welcome to post regarding it in the rules topic. Reformatting the rules threads so they do not use underlines for non-hyperlink text would be better. Using a larger, emboldened font for headings makes them stand out more. Using either bold or italics for emphasised text is a much tidier way to format these passages. The new rules topic has been reformatted, reordered and partially rewritten to remove confusing underlinings. Again, if you have any further comments on it, post therein from now onwards. Edited - hopefully they are now easier to understand. There seems to be character garbage around the "Other" word in the "Releasing Other Mods" title. Fixed. Excellent idea, I think. THe rules topic is unlocked from now on to allow for constructive comments only. Done. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.
Dup
Not too long ago Dup was absolutely adamanent over MSN that he was compeletely leaving the GTA scene forever. Has that changed? I've left the scene and come back many many times! The reason of that is why I'm here working my shifts. I lost faith in the community and myself as a modder due to the lack of scratch and innovative modding going on. Well, it can't be inspired on its own now can it. So go me! Like it or not.
