Modeling using ZModdler

I'm currently hitting a road block on my mod because I can't find a good program for modifying the models I want to mod.

 

I downloaded ZModdler, and attempted to open up and edit a SA model, but I receieved an error message telling me that I could open up and edit SA models with the registered version only. However, others say that ZModdler doesn't need to be registered in order to open up and edit SA models. Could somebody please explain this to me? If not, could someone please reccomend another good program? (3D Studio Max is no good; my trial ran out.)

 

NOTE: I am not asking for a crack of ZMod or anything like that.

Oleg, the producer of Zmodeller wants to make some cash off of his latest program, Zmod 2. You can only export .dff's without registering. You need to pay something like $30 to be able to import .dff's.

 

Personally, don't bother with the cash. You will lose interest pretty fast, and be out $30.

 

Try getting a trial of 3dsm (Easier to use in my mind) and use Kam's I/O script to get what models you want. Granted, you only have 30 days until you need to drop $3,200 or uninstal the software.

Aw, man, I'm screwed there. I should have said this in my first post, but - I already downloaded 3DSM. My trial has already run out. =/

Hm, that's a question that I can't answer simply.

 

I want to change the CJ model. I'll be modifying a female pedestrian or girlfriend model and then I'll use mission editing to switch the player's model to that model as soon as the game begins. There are quite a few female models that have the attributes I want in the player model I'm envisioning, so I'll probably be combining attributes from multiple models.

I basically want to make a total conversion mod, and changing the player model to a female model is just one of the drastic steps I'll be taking.

Hmm, a pm should arrive allmost instantly

It could be anything. For example, maybe his Internet connection went down and he was never able to send it.

Have read that you can open z3d files of the models,

work on them then export as dff for SA.

I have my zmodeler2 register.

So i dont know if this is true.

I believe if the z3d is from registered Zmod then only registered Zmods will open it

Yes, that may be the misconception that some people have - that just becauise zmod can open up the samples, it can open up the other files as well.

You doing the open folder option not the import option?

I haven't used it in a while, so I can't remember. I'll go take a look.

There is no 'Open Folder' option, but there is an 'Option' option with a folder icon, but when I use it, it only lets me open .z3d files.

Then i'm missunderstanding you as to what you need to do.

I thought that was what you needed to open was z3d files.

And yes the folder icon is what i mean by the open option.

Oh, I can open the .z3d files, but I can't convert .dll to .z3d .
