SEEJAY123
Whatsup everyone, here on my system atleast, I have found a way to make SA run faster it might not work for everyone though. First thing to do is delete gta.set in your My Documents folder but back it up just in case the tweak doesn't work so you don't have to go and reconfigure everything. After you delete it go back into your game and set it up the way you had it with one exception, DO NOT enable antaliasing through San Andreas, force it through your video card's Control Panel. Let me know if it works, good luck. Note that it is important you delete the gta.set file don't just disable it in-game and then enable it cause it might not work. Karva
This worked for me! It's not a huge increase, but I can definitely tell the difference. Thanks a lot!

Mike0
I think that is proof that the AA setings changes sometimes don't work. Somebody should post this to Rockstar Support, so they can fix it.
SEEJAY123
I will problably be sending R* an email about this if nobody else will, but will they even look at it? They still haven't even replied to me about the dark game glitch I am experiencing. I also want to remind certain people who didn't give this a try because they might already have it forced through their control panel to try it anyways because the purpose of deleting the gta.set file is to make certain that at no time was AA enabled in-game. In other words soon as you have a fresh gta.set don't even touch the AA button.

GTA3Freak-2001
he there I want to try this but I don't no exactly what u mean by force it through your video card's Control Pane Can u tell me step by step what to do? Once that loads go to the Settings Tab and then click advanced, this will give you another page of tabs. Click on the tab that shows the name of your GFX card. Depending on what brand card there should be some performance setting that lets you change the Antialiasing. Put it on whatever you want and then start the game making sure you change your settings to what you want but without touching the AA setting in the game. SEEJAY123
UPDATE: There seems to be some kind of problem with antialiasing in San Andreas. I once thought that doing this might improve performance but I believe what is really happening is it is not performing antialiasing correctly at all. I advise you all to check your antialiasing using screenshots to ensure it is working properly as I canot seem to enable it anymore not in game or through control panel, I've tried deleting gta_sa.set to no avail. It seems the bugs will never go away because on top of that antialiasing only wants to work on certian resolutions and is sometimes making the game menu look corrupted. In other words GTA might show the menu saying antialiasing = 1,2,3 but it might not be enabled at all, not even forced through the driver.
Mike0
Also sometimes the brightness changes when you change resolutions. On 1024 it is different than other resolutions. Rockstar messed something up seriously. Or is it just that Renderware made a lousy engine.

Rockstar messed something up seriously. Or is it just that Renderware made a lousy engine. What's worse is that I don't get that problem, just a whole list of others It seems that SA just has a lousy way of dealing with AA, because if you'll notice it only seems to remove jaggies from close objects and not ones further away. duneofd
i have ati 9200SE and ati propeties which tad do i do . then when u said do wateva to the aa what do i do with it?? plz someone that knows help me
GTA3Freak-2001
I don't have a ATI card so it might not be the same, it still will have the settings to change AA though so go into the display settings and there should be an entry called AA or rather Anti-aliasing with notches ranging from 2x up to 16x depending on what your card supports. Really for a 9200SE you should avoid AA as it will slow down your game alot more then it already does, SA also has this setting in the Display options but I've found enabling it out of game is better. Mike0
Which ATI drivers do you have.Which version. 5,8 is the newest, but 9200se has problems with peds in the game, so I hear 4,9 fixes this or by using RivaTuner. Catalyst is the name of the ATI driver pack.
SEEJAY123
Actually, the latest drivers are 5.9.
Wolf68k
Wait a sec. That's it? Just don't get the AA setting within the game? That's all you've got? Not much of a performance tweak. Sorry if it seems like I'm sounding like an a** but come one, that's not much of a tweak. Since the AA setting is disabled in the game by default, I don't really see the "tweak" in it. Plus which anyone that plays games enough knows to disable AA and AF within the GFX card, let alone the game, to get a perforance increase. Now if you're running the AA in the game plus have it set for your GFX card settings, this is not a good thing anyway and can do a lot more harm....well normally I would end that with 'than good' but I can't see any good from it, so there's no point. SEEJAY123
The "tweak" is to delete the gta_sa.set file, and make sure you never enabled it within the game. I never claimed it would work for anyone. I'm actually having doubts as to what exactly is going on with this game myself. Oh, and yea you are coming off as an a** especially since I even came here to post it. I could have just kept it to myslef. The only reason I did was because it hit me all of a sudden.. that maybe someone else could benefit from this. Lord knows it worked for me. So yea, don't come here talking about "thats it?" "thats all you got" cause I don't appreciate it and I'm sure no one else in this forum does either.
