Tornado Rex

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I'm fixing this computer today. sh*t's all wrong. Radom restarts, slow as all f*ck, etc etc you know the drill. Went ahead and did the following scans: Spybot, Ad-aware, AVG (all updated as of this post of course). Here's what it came up with.

Spybot: 870-ish spyware thingies

Ad-aware: 1200-ish spyware thingies (Deep scan, checking for low-risk threats)

AVG: 376 viruses (mostly trojans, some worms)

Jesus. I wonder what the hell was causing it to f*ck up...

So then, let's here what you got. What is the most Viruses/Spyware sh*ts you've come up with in a single scan. Also, please list the program (because it just seems right to do, ya know?).

Well a bit part of my job is cleaning up people's spyware infested computers, but ad-aware and spybot aren't left with much to detect because I remove spyware/adware as much as I can manually first (add/remove programs, etc).

That pic was done on purpose to advertise FF. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ad-Aware part was completely Photoshop'ed.

With that said, the sad thing is I have seen a system with so many toolbars installed into IE and running 800x600 that there was only about 1-2inches of viewable web page

For spyware the worse I've seen from personal hands on cleaning is around 1800-ish or Ad-Aware (ran first) and then about 1000-ish for Spybot, and then add in about 30-ish more things that HijackThis picked up.

Recently a lady's daughter's system I cleaned out was Ad-Aware 1112 (that is the exact number, and it was run first) followed by Spybot 97 items and lastly HijackThis found 4 more things but there was a 5th that I found at the same time I manually cleaned those 4.

Viruses I can't remember the last time I came across a system with any large number of viruses to worry about which really a surprise.

My next door neighbour's PC had about 30 viruses and Ad-aware found about 8000 problems, when I asked her why she hadn't done anything about it, she said she thought it was supposed to be like that.. confused.gif

The worst thing ever was when I first bought my PC, I didn't know anything about this adware, spyware, viruses, etc stuff so I didn't run a firewall, antivirus programme or any spyware programmes. And after about three years of use, my PC was slowing down a load, I can't play games, I get out of memory errors, all of that crap And after that I found GTAF and got this adware and viruses and stuff and then I downloaded and ran these programmes. I then found, 34 viruses on Norton (contained trojans, worms and viruses), 400ish from Spybot and 200ish from Ad-Aware.

No, the old screenshot has floated around since before Firefox became the 'cool' thing. I've always found it amusing that the likes of the Google Toolbar are in it though.

I got about 6000 in ad-aware when I ran it on my neighbors, plus an additional 2000 in spybot, and Norton picked up another 300 or so viruses.
