Missed Opportunities

This game is so bloody big, every time im flying a spot a new building ive never explored. So i go down there, poke around, and think...damn, why wasnt there a mission here? This place is cool! So i thought id start a thread for cool GTA locations that shouldve gotten a mission.

Ive got tons, but just off the top of my head...has anyone been to that mansion on top of Verdant Bluffs in Los Santos? There's a tag on the roof and flowers out the front, but otherwise not much reason to go there. That place looks awesome, with the exquisite front yard and the phallic monument in the courtyard. Would have made a great shootout spot, or even a nice safehouse.

I remember going there a few days after i got the game, just exploring, and thinking damn i cant wait until i get to the mission that comes here! I was still in my Vice City perspective, where every interesting building got something to do.

What are everyone's thoughts? Any more hidden gems R* skipped, or saved for the mission pack? (I wish...)

I think that they should have done a mission on the BAY Site in Las venturas, because in the game we never need to go there I passed all my 4 savegames without going there and it's a bloddy shame that place is so cool to do a mission. There are more places that we never go there its a real shame.

The Marauder
That mansion you were talking about is an observatory, not a home. Maybe some more alien missions for The Lil Probe Inn.

The Oil Fields... they look so cool but there's nothing utilizing them.

The block building near Las Payasadas...

Hilltop Farm

Bayside

That place in Foster Valley with the five round buildings. Wtf is that place anyway?

The Big Ear

And how about Missionary Hill?

Either way the map is too big for it's amount of missions

or: there are not enough missions to cover the map's size.

Definitely Bayside it looks so good there but there isn't much things to do there but boat school and some weapon pickups. The big huge church in San Fierro, the Big Ear, and Foster Valley deserved some kind of mission.

my pick would definately be (apart of some others that were already mentioned above) the zombotech building in SF, woulda been cool to kill some zombies in the underworks of that building...

Power station out in the desert.

Ghost town(s).

Many missed opportunities . . . .

You know, there are an awful lot of extra details that seemed out of place, that when I stubled across them, or noticed them I assumed that they were there for a later mission. Like fer instance, why is there boat dock at Toreno's house? And why is there that geyser; and the contruction sites in LV; And the teepee hotel?

Having finally finished the plotline tonight, I realized that very few of those places I expected to play a part in the plot actually had anything happed at them.

What an odd map. I don't remember Vice City or Liberty city being that way.

Back O Beyond! They could have had some freaky missions where you hunt down some crook in the foggy mist at night where Leatherface and the Alien dude from the lil probe in get in your way with chainsaws and shovels! devil.gif

Chemical Station down behind Orange Grove street in Los Santos. It had a lot of space, I thought it'd be used for a few missions where some sort of secret operation was going on were a gang had taken over the area and CJ had to go in and mess it up!!

Prickle Pine. In and around that area. Lots of expensive houses, lots of cool cars, could be great for a chase type mission.

But in general, SO many missed opportunities in San Andreas. I guess they just couldn't get them all. But some places, places I even didn't mention but will realize later, that I think were really missed opportunities that i think most of us would agree on

Kinda Koolies

A mission in Palomino Creek.

I mean, there's a lagoon, and a pier, so why not make another boat mission? sly.gif

Bayside: A great place, it should unlock some cool boat missions when boat school is done(with all gold medels!). nervous.gif

Greenglass College: What th--?? What's the point?? Some missions from a retarted college guy or something?? blink.gif

What about some helicopper type mission from that seasparrow off the coast near you airstrip?? It's just not there for nothing, now is it?? notify.gif

There could be a mission like some college kid has been messing with traids, hunt him down and kill him or something like that.

How bout that little undergroundish cave by the big ear.

That wouldve been awesome to have a little secret-type mission hidden in there, instead of just that police bribe.

Or that deserted building near the bigass jump in the desert, i could see missions happening around there, i mean it so freakin empty.

The big ass jump is the one near the dam, right? If it is then it was by the mission for Toreno where you shoot down the helicopters.

Grand Theft Grandpa

I agree with all the locations by everyone who posted in this thread. While it`s a blast to explore a huge place like SA IMO, there isn`t enough cool things to find. I remember discovering that huge building that`s not too far from the Big Ear & wondering what goodies I`d find there. Nothing! Ya can`t even go in the place! What a rip-off. Where are all the military troops at Area 69? Cops show up if you go inside, but you`d think there`d at least be a guard or two(or 20). Lots more safehouses should`ve been available, along with ALOT more enterable buildings. I of course realize there ARE limitations, but it would have been better to have a somewhat smaller SA, but a crapload more things to do in it. Hopefully R* will rectify the situation and make GTA4 more balanced. confused.gif

How about bullying other kids and beating them up with baseball bats. -Slurp Slurp, Hmmm... Sprunk!

I agree with most of the comments here. There are many places that deserved at least an interior to walk into - the many diners and restaurants that are shut for example.

With more development time I'm sure Rockstar couldn't gone over the area and included more details and cool things to do and look at confused.gif

That said, I just completed the final mission this evening and now the freeform fun continues (this is one game that doesn't really have an ending in terms of gameplay smile.gif

It'd be awesome to have to do a mission in the Back O Beyong in the countryside. Since that place is so f*cked up, it would be great for a mission. They should make the mission be very heart-pumping. Like right when you least expect it, some guy with all blacks jump down from a tree with a rope and start shooting you.

I'd also love to have a mission at El Castillo Del Diablo since that place is a great freaky place. Tis a damn shame Rockstar left out some of the best areas in San Andreas sad.gif.

Maybe R* wanted to people to make mission mods! Leave a blank canvas sort of. Or maybe it was to make people think there where secrets there. Anyway I reckon they should have used the bridges for a sniper shootout!

On the one hand I like the open areas to get away from things and enjoy the peace and quiet, and on the other I can see the potential for some good (not frustrating) missions in those areas.

I really like sniper-style missions in GTA, though there's usually only one per game. There should've been a mission in the Back 'O Beyond called 'Deer Hunter' where you have to track down and assassinate someone or a few people.

More smaller side-missions would've been great in the non-mission areas. I miss the public payphone missions from GTA III. The phone would ring and someone would ask you to kill his wife, or pick someone up to be made into dog food - those sorts of things.

no special mission on the huge and long highway in SA. I wish they made a mission where CJ has to keep driving on the highway with 5 or 6 stars for 10 minutes:sigh: I like thrill of the chase, just like if we enter the SF or LV when they are still locked (anyway i revealed all the map before even start any mission biggrin.gif )

Or made race mission "SA Endurance" that circle SA (LS, SF and LV at once)

Wait a sec...you're right! It's been so long since i played Vice even, i completely forgot the military base used to be crawling with guards. Why would they take them out?

And what was said a few posts above about mods is a good point, maybe they just put in some cool areas to inspire the community to code up some missions (or planning ahead for the mission pack from R*...but yeah, unlikely).

Using the cop uniform to get inside police stations and military areas, like in Vice City mad.gif

Does not work on PS2 version. (Does mad.gif Back, I don't see why you were angry anyway!)

He said he wanted the cop uniform to work, like in Vice City. That's why he's angry.

I thought they should have a mission in the woods where you are getting hunted without any weapons. A bit far-fetched, but still. It'd be scarwee. cry.gif
