Hi all,

This ( free for personal usage ) program allows you to show your 3D tracks, and 3D car models, online via your website.

If you use a 3D app that supports Shockwave 3D export ( 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, GameSpace, Cinema 4D and loads more ), download our app from here...

http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car

You'll also find details of our competition above.

Here are two sample online levels, using free models from the internet.

http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car/daytona

http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car/portfolio

To chance the default 3D model of the vehicle, call your model carSkin.

Enjoy...

Mal

Are you seriously advertising here?!?

How much does this product cost? Why did you wait a whole day after joining to post that? Dude, man, see, I feel for you. Maybe you're starting out or something, maybe you are like trying to feed your family?

Could be a hit if you get your demos looking nicer.

sh*t, I'll advertise. You want some models created so the demo looks like something I'd pay for? I'm a free agent right now. You can buy me.

I ONLY looked at that because I thought you were a legit member of the site sharing some new thing you worked up and wanted to launch here along with wherever else you hung out on the web.

But dude, that's foul.

Plus, I can do most of what your product does FREE and just as legit!

So please forgive me, but I am not used to frikken pop-ups posting on forums.

Edit: and you even used damned blinky eyes as your topic title tag as to not be missed! you are a pop-up!

Heh, he's a popup. Now that's rich. sigh.gif

Seriously though, why would we want to put a banner of your product in our game, if we pretty much can do the same things with free programs, without any of that? If I am completely missing the point here, feel free to shoot me.

In the company's defense, those logos are very easily edited, and the demo pointed that out.

Everything I saw were only placeholders, marked as place holders, to be changed by those who use the player on their sites.

@CanDo, the reason I called you a pop up is because if I want to host dynamic material in a streamlined, very pop and appealing way, I would've sought out your help.

I come here in search of discussion with like minded modders of GTA, we have lots and lots of fun.

When salespeople can't get you to pick up the phone, they block their numbers. And when pop ups and advertisements seem unqualified or not good enough for a product in the creators mind, they send people "door to door" online, spitting their say in a forum here, a forum there. Come and go.

Why did you think that was a good idea? If you knocked on my door with that stuff, I'd shut it.

But, if you became my friend at a place to mingle like a party, or online at a forum, and got into my lil group and got to know the entire bunch and became aquainted with people, then you'd know who might like it and you could slip it in here and there.

"you know, that reminds me, dertyjerzian: I have this thing for playing games online. Why not host it with my tool instead of those narly videos that people will surely be stunned about soon enough. They'd love to play on bits and pieces interactively."

Nah, you got to just throw it in my face.

Very nice contempo design, but I'll pass on cold business anywhere that should be a place for friends.

Dude this isn't a place for friends, this is gtaf. This person is probably one of the few who actually understands the dynamic of this place, it being a high traffic depersonalised operation which caters in a semi commercial fashion albeit nonprofit, in order to perpetuate itself and its content (and why not). Well, maybe a few crusty webmasters and my dead grandfather too.

Lemme put it another way. If I came advertising my crappy geocities based car competition, under a big friend banner, ppl would be real friendly. I dunno if it's a good idea to recommend those sort of fronts unless they're actually necessary. personally I hate being conned by smiles.

I think you need to fill out a report instead of commenting, ooor read the TOS over again just to be sure, ooooor get a clarification on various points covered which might be moral based and thus subjective (friends? you lost me man), and yeah, maybe just all of the above.

You making me wonder why people say I get het up about converts bro, you are kinda visible vibrating from here. Chill wink.gif

Not so much a reprimand, as you somewhat making me wonder?

Muahhaha, Cheers rampage_ani.gif

Yikes!

I posted to this section of this forum, as it is populated with people who have 3D modelling skills, and are interested in vehicle based games. I didn't post in general news or in any other section that wasn't relevent, only here, and only once.

If you would like a way of showing your work online via your website, in a slightly different way than is currently available, then it might be useful for you to have it as an additional tool. It isn't a replacement for your current way of working, just that... another tool that can be used or not.

It is free to use for personal, website usage ( a decision I pushed for ), despite it being quite expensive to develop.

Basically, if you are complaining about it without trying it out, it's probably not for you.

If you would like to take the time to try it out, and find it useful, then please enjoy it. If you create something cool, feel free to enter it into our competition ( although this is optional... it's still free for personal usage, whatever that is ).

To play some levels that students in Ireland created using the app, have a look here...

http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign...ordanstown.html ( most of them work straight away: for a few of them who used the old beta, you may need to temporarily set your date back to June 2005 )

Best regards...

Some-one send me a GTA level scene that ships with the Max exporter stuff, I uploaded it here...

http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car/gta/

Also, you can play a GTA style level for a Sony Pictures movie, that used the vehicle app.

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/triplex...me_mission.html

That should give more an idea of how the app can be used to show a level ( or work-in-progress ) online, via a link.

Apologies, I'm busy developing more features into the app.

BTW has anyone uploaded a level using the app to a website yet?

Hi Ashdexx,

> would it be possible to change the vehicle out, and use it to preview cars/trucks too?

You sure can, you just have to call your car model carSkin ( and your wheel model wheelSkin )

In the XML file, there are options for you to place the wheels ( chassis width, distance of front and back axel ).

That 2nd level ( from sonypictures.com ) shows the use of carSkin and wheelSkin.

Are there any locations that I can download coverted 3DS Max files of the GTA levels / environments, with buildings etc?

I've searched the forum and the web, but can't seem to find where they might be stored at ( if there are any ).

  • 2 weeks later...

Has anyone created a level using the application yet?

If so, is it online? It would be great to see online how different people are modelling environments etc. Also, extra points go to people who also change the model skin.!

Mal
