njr1489 Posted August 29, 2005 Share Posted August 29, 2005 I got this idea when kryptos said there should be a way the server owner could choose to disable some anti cheat checks or something like that. For a future version, it would be a great idea to allow the server owner to choose what files a person connecting must have before playing. EX: The server owner decides to have a GTA LC or Myriad islands server, all they do is replace what files should be checked. They could change the weapon.dat with the GTA LC weapon.dat, etc. This would be really great for people who would want to play with mods like the myriad islands or GTA LC. asukayakuza1234 Posted August 29, 2005 Share Posted August 29, 2005 i agree, some people might want modded stunt servers for example, i think tht handling.cfg shouldnt be checked. cos if ppl dont like others using that(speedhacking) they can easily ban the person going 400mph on a packer. I personally dont mind speedhacks to a certain extent, but i hate health hacks etc. so yeah should be able to decided what the crc should check and not check. server side.hopefully tht idea will be implemented soon in the future. I think the team should implement this because it brings more fun, and they don't have to release their source, so its win-win the way I see it. I could see it now, people playing in myriad or GTA LC, people stunting and racing, people playing with total conversions, and all they had to do was have the server owner accept certain files, and the ones connecting would just need the same files for access. Bungle Posted August 29, 2005 Share Posted August 29, 2005 another release in a very near future will accomodate for that (being, the ability to run a server without crc checks, as it's needed for mods like LCMP and Myriad, to name 2 examples), and that is all i know.
