original gangster

it fixes many other stuff. like:

- Destroyed cars now are correct colour.

- Dirty cars now able to get clean.

- Numpad 5 key is now mappable when re-defining controls.

- Issue on all machines where certain collisions caused parts of the audio system to crash (sound effects, cutscene audio - only radio keeps going) - users know this as "Rain / Thunderstorm bug".

- Improvements to DVD streaming.

- Audio problems in interior / exterior transitions and getting in / out of cars fixed.

- Some fixes to ensure reverb is not present at certain save points.

- Improvements to dance game timings.

- Crash occuring when using "user radio files" while the frame limiter is disabled.

It's probably worth patching, you're not going to lose out on anything by upgrading your version. I can't see any reason why you'd be against the new features it has, I'll be upgrading because of the radio files fix. Can't stand my music crashing.

The fact I use a crash fix on my game means I cant patch up, or I'd lose it and it would just crash constantly confused.giframpage_ani.gif

Go ahead and download it, if your not interested in mods at this stage.

I'm waiting for mods to be upgraded for 1.01 compatibility.

You want to mod your game? Not worth it.

You don't want to mod it? Get it NOW! smile.gif

Let me define the use of mods in this topic, the patch only stops programs that run with SA like the carspawner, trainers, camhack, admin console or any programs that hook into the games .exe. This is only a temporary thing until the authors of such programs update their programs to suit the new version.

It depends on the person if its worth it, if you can live without those programs I mentioned above for a while and you don't mind having your disc in the drive then by all means patch the game even if you have bug free gameplay. It all depends on what you want. To stress though the patch does fix some crucial things and itsn't just for the removal of Hot Coffee!

and you don't mind having your disc in the drive

My computer asks me to insert the disc, even when it is already in the drive. I fixed the problem with a no-cd patch. Is it completely impossible to have a no-cd patch with the 1.01 patch, or is it just that there isn't one available yet?

I've also had the problem with being told that it's unable to find the disc/authenticate the disc. I've updated the firmware of my DVD drive to the latest available(It's an AOpen drive) but to no avail it still will not recognize the disc. Which sucks, because for one, its a legit copy. Second, I'd really enjoy being able to have a clean car wink.gif

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah I had my copy of the game in the DVD Drive after patching and it asked for the right disc, for some reason reinstalling fixed it.

But at the moment there's no No-CD cracks that work with the 1.01 version of the game.

Yeah, I reinstalled it a few days ago and its been working fine. Oh well, just gonna have to do without the patch for now I guess.

is this patch trustworthy...? ive looked it up and id love to get rid of that sound problem devil.gif. I am getting it though i love the sound effects ive had so far. Im in the Badlands and i got it yesterday! And its first time using keyboard! cool.gif

But does it eliminate all Modding chances?

It's certainly trustworthy coming from the game developpers themselves, though yes, right now it will limit a few modding capabilities. Hopefully this wont be a problem for long though, it's mainly an issue of people bringing out updates for this new version. Anything that directly edits the game's memory etc, is going to need updating, as the offsets for the memory have all changed.

Yeah all vehicle, texture, map, and mission mods will still all work, as I stated above only mods that hook into the .exe wont work.

its worth it.

It fixes the (I know i say it alot) the motion blur, now you can actually control the vehicle and having less smashes when driving fast... smile.gif

I patched my game, and it didn't fix the sudden loss of sound, i.e. "Issue on all machines where certain collisions caused parts of the audio system to crash (sound effects, cutscene audio - only radio keeps going) - users know this as Rain / Thunderstorm bug.".

Dunno. I also get no collision sounds, just little 'cracks' in my speakers when I drive into a wall or another car.

Oh well. ~az

I've installed the patch, everything working fine, I can even go into the menu and back out without the sound going weird every time, tho it does still do the loud roaring every so often when I save.

Otherwise it's better than before I patched due to the cars gettin clean n stuff, like they should. smile.gif

I got a significant performance increase so I was able to go up a detail level. Haven't noticed the sound going out since i installed it either.

Well, you know how the screen blurs quite badly and shakes around and that, and im sure the framerate drops aswell (though I never checked).

It reduces the degree of motion blur, and the FPS reamins more constant. Therefore, for me, it reduces the amount of accidnets, by cars turning suddenly and things like that. It definately improved, because ive always hated it, and its better.

But still they should make it as an option in the setings.

I have one other question. Does anyone know why motion blur has been added? Is it to do with performance, or just an effect to make it look like youre going fast.

Does anyone know why motion blur has been added?

It lets you drive really, really fast, and still have the game look respectable. At the insane speeds that you can obtain (and keep) in GTA San Andreas, the blur is activated, so that the detail of scenery is less visible. Comparable to when filmmakers fill scenes with fog, so that the audience won't notice that they scimped on the set/backdrop.

Call me shallow but I'm having too much fun dating the girls after collecting the 50 oysters and "hot coffee" activated biggrin.gif

However, the improvements to the dancing game timing could be a plus. Does it really make a difference to it?
