boobtronic
Ok, I split the exhaust pipe on my mom's car. It DOES sound cooler now, but she might make me pay for it. For one, HOW does this happen? and 2...how much does it cost to fix?
Swarz
My mate in the UK buggered his exhaust and it had to be replaced. Cost him approx £80... dunno what that converts to in Canada. Unlucky dude... I don't think your mum will be too chuffed with the "cooler" sound... --- AMF --- -= A joke is a very serious thing - Winston Churchill =-

SloStenRacing
Well I wouldn't admit to anything that could put you in jeopardy of being considered the guilty party. Tell us a little more about the car. What year is it? What kind of car is it? Does it snow alot where you live? If so, do they use salt on the roads? Does it rain alot there? It very well could be that the exhaust just rusted through. Could have been bad welds. Could have been that you were being a typical kid and you were out hotrodding mommies car and bottomed out or hit too many bumps at high speeds. With the last one one hit could crack it or multiple hit could crack it. It could also be a combination of more than one of the above. As for cost, It depends on where it split. Pre-cat or post-cat. Also if that needs to be replaced or a muffler. I know that I had my full length exhaust for my "race" truck run with no cats for around $250 at a local shop. Man when I didn't have exhaust on it and it was open headers did it sound like a mean motherf*cker. Put here in 1st out in front of my house and took it through drive just sitting there roasting off the tires and waking up the neighbors. Vanquish
It only cost £42/$91CAD to have my sisters fixed on her MK1 Micra. They dont charge for fitting where she has it done.

quackaddict
Just go to one of those cheapo hole-in-the-wall tire shops with a welding machine. They'll patch it up for probably 20 bucks. (as long as the damage isn't unfixable).
boobtronic
Well, it's a 1990 Ford Tempo. Woo. The story is, when I went to feed my friends animals, i accidentally bumped it when i backed into their basketball net. Honestly, I peeled out of their driveway about about 60 kph. I think the spray of rocks and such finally killed it. it HAD to have been weakened. No doubt. Rusted almost all the way through. And yes, it's Canada. Snow, Rain, Saltedness. eeeverything. Yeah dude it was not your fault. Salt, snow and rain for 15 years was at fault. Tell your mom you did her a favor by destorying the weakest link of her car. Plus if it was already rusting through it will run better with a closed exhaust system.
Cojawfee
Yes, it is not your fault that you backed into a basketball hoops, and then peeled out spraying rocks all over the underside of the car. Not your fault at all. epoxi
SloStenRacing
Yes, it is not your fault that you backed into a basketball hoops, and then peeled out spraying rocks all over the underside of the car. Not your fault at all. Unless he has a fart can the size of everest on the back of that tempo there is no reason why backing into the hoop would be able to f*ck up the exhaust and not be detected by his mom that he hit something with visual markings to the bumper. And spraying rocks is not going to break his exhaust alone. Even larger rocks kicked up will not break an exhaust alone. It could be that these things encouraged a weak exhaust to already break but it was clearly a case of the exhaust being rusty and weak to begin with that caused it to break.
