Looking for a new RTS

I've played AoM, AoE(AoK), and am not terribly interested in them anymore. I remember an old PSX game...warzone 2100...or something. Is there a PC version of that? What about Battle for Middle Earth...or that LOTR one,. whateverit's called? What do you guys play in the realm of RTS, or TBS for that matter.

Have to agree on Dawn of War. It is a very good game.

Also, I recommend 'Act of War', it's set about 5 years in the future, uses modern day and also futuristic units. Need to have a good system to get the best results out of it though.

I'm still a huge fan of Red Alert 2, you can't beat that for fast paced furious fighting.

GTA3Freak-2001
Act of War is good even though its short compared to others, its got the usual multiplayer so that's no problem. I've only played a bit of the LOTR Battle for Middle Earth and its quite good, a sequel is on its way too so yeah definetly look into that.

Battle For Middle Earth is good but it has a few flaws that are being fixed in the next one.

for one you can only create a certain number of troops, and even during battles like Helms Deep and Minas Trith it's no where near realistic twords the movie cause the game dosn't allow it. the next one BFME2 fixes a lot of those things they did wrong in the first one. Now granted the first one is still awesome and there are mods to make it more realistic, personally if your gonna get that. just wait a few months and get the 2nd one.

All this Crap

I recommend Warcraft III and it's expansion pack. It probably isn't like the games you have in your library but I think you'll enjoy it.

I got Earth 2160 yesterday. It is an amazing RTS game. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is great. The different in the teams is really different. in the other RTS games I've played (only C&C etc) the only differences are the looks, but overall each one has the same buildings. In Earth they are completeley different. The ways things are built are amazing. In ED (my favourite) everything needs to be connected via tubes with a exit at one end where all you units, no matter where you built them, come out of. LC build ontop of each other, first by starting with a base, then another layer, then another so everything is mainly skyscrapers there. UCS is another good team, theres only about 4-5 main buildings, and everything else are add ons to them to enance what they do or to build units. The aliens are great too. You start off with a couple of land aiens and one flying spaceship thing. They collect resource and then clone themselves of morph into something bigger, after a while you have loads of little aliens running about. Upgrading everything through research is cool too, espcially when you use to creat your own custom tanks and so on. It's worth getting.

What about RTS for xbox/PS. ? They made a type of one with Army Men RTS. But nothing else. I can see how the limited buttons and speed of force comand could be tough, but put out something. My dream is to play AoE on my 62" TV.

Imperial Glory. It takes place during Napoleanic Europe. You basically just try to conquer all of Europe. It is basically two games in one.

The first part of the game is basically Risk. You move armies around, you conquer nations, trade and make treaties. And then the fun part comes after that. Each section of land and ocean has its own battlefield.

For land battles you use whatever armies you have placed in that area. Now it becomes like any other RTS, except you have no resources, when something dies it is gone, and the only way to get more units is to have reinforcements. So you basically have a battle with muskets, rifles, swords, cavalry, and artillery. You can either play it yourself (super fun) or let the computer do it (do this if you know a battle is going to be boring, like 8 squads of yours against a few swordsmen). The sea battles are basically whatever ships you had there, against the enemy's. You can fire chain shot (destroys sails), grape shot (kills crewmen) and regular whatever pound balls (sinks the ship). So you sail around and disable the other person. You can board the other ship, but I can never get this to work.

The entire play map is the area covered by the Roman Empire, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Turkey, and Russia. This game is addictive.
