Dublo 7
What does Manson have a phd in? He gave the NIN guitarist a heady?...
Saggy
Well, living in his home town, have met him many times and my family being close to his, I can tell you this: No, he's not talented at the genre he's trying to do. He is THE most over-rated thing since Slipknot. It doesn't take talent to be a freak. I respect him as a musician, but he seriously could be alot better if he dropped the goth emo bullsh*t, because he sucks at it. I also hate the people who think of him as god, because he isn't. I bet you if Marilyn Manson said breathing was uncool, 75% of the teen population would be dead within 30 minutes. I will give you, he is a very smart man. He does have skill at song writing and singing, but he needs to make a new approach. BTW You can all safely say Sag's statement: "Since I can pretty safely say that none of you have lived a life in the spot-light, in any form of entertainment, it's a safe bet to say that you don't even know what the f*ck talent is in this sense." Has been broken, for I live a life in the spotlight :-p Had you posted yet, silly? Besides, you've played a few clubs in Ohio, I'm talking about a major spotlight like Manson's. Not belittling your achievments, just saying that the league I'm talking about is a little bit bigger and beyond yours, and it takes some talent to maintain any sort of career or image in it. And, man, saying that Slipknot is better than Manson is just f*cking sad. Ignore the man's music for a moment, and then try to tell me that Slipknot is better than him. You should be killed for that. Not because I love Manson, but because I hate Slipknot. lol Manson isn't even goth or emo. I hate it when people interpret that from him, because it's like they don't even pay attention to anything he's saying, but just look at his image, and those who follow him. In any event, most people that are fans of Manson are just in it for a fad-type thing, anyway. Almost every album he puts out, he changes his style a little bit, and people accuse him of selling out. The thing I appreciate about Manson, is that he's more artistic than most people are. Personally, I think his music could be a lot better myself, but he deserves a lot more credit than people give him. I still can't belive you'd say Slipknot is better than Manson. That's just f*cked up. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration! BTW, we havent played "a few clubs in Ohio". we have played major concerts all over this state. Clubs are a weekday after-school thing. Weekends are usually big multi-band concerts or BOTB's etc. But yeah, anyway.
Wolfwood
He’s very iconic, isn’t he? I mean, his image, it really is something different, and very appealing to a lot of young people. He is a recognizable figure. I believe he is very talented, not only for his vocal work, in which he can do so much with his voice, it is very impressive in the long run, but he kept his fame and I suppose, success from his entertainment skills, that is what makes him talented, he has the package. He is entertaining, mostly, because he comes up with new ideas, that are quite freaky, and weird, but at the same time, interesting. He gets people going. Monoxide
What surprises me is his apparent intelligence. Everyone has said hes quite articulate and a free thinker. I dont think hes overrated at all I think hes a great entertainer despite his outlandish behavior. Slipknot on the other hand are a bunch of brain dead clowns that dont touch on Marilyn Mansons talent. btw whats an emo?
Grandthefter
I think Manson is a great artist, he's got loads of good songs out and good covers - Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams (Are made of these), Personal Jesus etc. Most of his best songs are his own, Vodevil, Doll-Dagga Buzz-etc, Cake and Sodomy, Disposable Teens. He's deffinatley one of the best out there at the moment in my eyes, shame about him not making any more albums though
ToyMachine
He's a shock artist and will only be around as long as image sells. I can't say I'm impressed by Manson's songs or band. His intelligence (as everyone says he has) doesn't show. GG Allin was apprently very smart but look at all the sh*t he did.
Wolfwood
I think seeing that interview of him with Micheal Moore in Bowling For Columbine really changed my opinion on him, for the better.
