Is Marilyn Manson

Monoxide

Talented. Pretty self explanitory I dont really listen to him much but alot of people say his an attention starved weirdo and alot say hes a damn good entertainer I'm kinda torn between the two. He does a few good remakes like Tainted Love (originally done by Flok of Seagulls I think) and a few good originals like This is the New sh*t Edited by Monoxide

I always keep a broad mind when it comes to music, I will listen and like any kind of music.

But I can say that I cannot stand this guy, I cant stand the goth music he sings, his image etc. I dont think there is talent in any bone in his body!

But hey, each to his own I guess, this was just my opinion, But id never tell anyone to listen to his garbage! smile.gif

I don't favor his image, whatever that may actually be, but I must say his cover of 'Tainted Love' is quite the sexy song.

He's very intelligent and certainly knows how to market himself. He's not really as freaky as he makes himself out to be.

That said, his music is interesting but certainly isn't the best of his genre.

Never heard or been able to get it, personally. If you're nitpicking, I know that Gloria Jones did a 'version' in 1964 monocle.gif

He's an attention starved weirdo.

Well, it's true! I don't really like his music, but he's weird like hell. Imagine when, some years ago, we started to talk about him in a religion class. The teacher told some facts, like when he took out two ribs so he could blowjob himself, and etcetera. I laughed so hard then.

He also asked his wife to get a glass eye, so he could take it out and shag her eye socket. She said no smile.gif

DriftingSoul

you do have to be into that kind of music...

He may come off as weird and everything but he knows how to entertain a crowd and he must be doing something right if he's still making cds and people are buying them

but in my opinion he's good, i like him

He's not talented and his music sucks. But outside of that, he's one intelligent person, I give him that.

His only album that I really liked was Mechanical Animals. All the rest just didn't interest me. He does seem near genius, he is a very smart fellow.

I only liked his Personal Jesus remake. And Angel With Scabbed Wings.

Other than that, Marilyn blows.

"I wouldn't say a single word to them, I would listen to what they have to say and that's what no one did."

He said that when he was asked what he would say to the two teenagers responcible for the Columbine High School shooting. It's one of the best quotes I've ever seen by Manson because I can't compare it to anything other, it just goes to show his intelligence.

I thought the exact same thing. He has a great point.

Most of you don't have the right to say weather or not he's talented or not. Since I can pretty safely say that none of you have lived a life in the spot-light, in any form of entertainment, it's a safe bet to say that you don't even know what the f*ck talent is in this sense. I'm really tired of people passing on their opinions on what "talent" is just because they don't like someone's music. I absolutely f*cking despise Bizarre and Linkin Park, but I've still defended their talent.

With Manson on the other hand, I do like a lot of his music. His lyrics to me are of the mysterious sorts, but I really don't get into them that much. A lot of people don't like the instruments in his music, but I like the sound that he brings with him. Mixing that with his vocal stylings, and he's a very energetic performer, that has been successful in inspiring feelings in everyone, whether it be hate or love.

If you ask me, it takes a lot of talent to be loved by masses of people to the extent that some peope do love Manson. The same can be said about those who hate manson. The thing most people don't realize, is that he himself has manifested this love-hate relationship between the people, media and himself. He's simply living the role of a rock star, or "Marilyn Manson". All aspects of his life that we see, are part of that act.

I've read a lot about Marilyn Manson, because I saw more in him than just, "Attention-whore goth". I guess that's probably because I was aware of the fact that he's an educated person, with a Phd., and just because of some of the interviews he's given doesn't seem like some stupid goth retard.

The primary thing about Marilyn Manson is that he's not only making music, but he's playing a role. He's transformed his life, into the role of Marilyn Manson, glamorized, drug-taking, sex-mongering, grotesque rock-star, whoes purpose is to piss you off. Think of him kind of as Alice Cooper of the '90s.

The real reason that I like Marilyn Manson, is because he doesn't make music just to have it sound good. Not adressing the political commentary of his albums, but some of them just tell a story. He puts so much into the album-art of his music, it's like he's really just trying to tell us all a story, in many different forms of art. The reason I like it, because it's not that easy for me to understand the story in the way he tells it, so it's kind of fun when I can make a connection and put in another link of the story.

In terms of his music, I guess the only one real thing that sticks out, is his singing. Manson's voice, to me, is just very raw and very energetic. I mean, I hear people in death metal bands screaming, and they're loud and everything, but the emotion to it just sounds fake and feigned. Manson's vocals are not the loudest, but they do sound the most genuine, and seem to fit the music the best. In terms of his music, though, it's funny that most of my favorite songs he's done are covers, like Sweet Dreams.

In any event, people should begin separating Brian Warner and Marilyn Manson. Brian Warner is simply a man putting on an act, and Marilyn Manson is the character in that act. So far, he's seemed to have done a good job.

Oh, and if you guys want a good Manson story: Once when he was touring with NIN, he walked out onstage and began giving NIN's guitarist a blowjob.

I used to be quite the fan for a long time, antichrist superstar is a fantastic album. I read his book, it was awesome, hes a very smart articulated man with considerable talent for songwriting.

Unfortunately its fallen apart, hes guitarist and bassist have left, and his last album was horrible, what with tainted love and his mtv crusade. Well he deserves the money, but its not a patch on his prime years

Well, living in his home town, have met him many times and my family being close to his, I can tell you this:

No, he's not talented at the genre he's trying to do. He is THE most over-rated thing since Slipknot. It doesn't take talent to be a freak. I respect him as a musician, but he seriously could be alot better if he dropped the goth emo bullsh*t, because he sucks at it. I also hate the people who think of him as god, because he isn't. I bet you if Marilyn Manson said breathing was uncool, 75% of the teen population would be dead within 30 minutes.

I will give you, he is a very smart man. He does have skill at song writing and singing, but he needs to make a new approach.

BTW You can all safely say Sag's statement:

"Since I can pretty safely say that none of you have lived a life in the spot-light, in any form of entertainment, it's a safe bet to say that you don't even know what the f*ck talent is in this sense."

Has been broken, for I live a life in the spotlight :-p

Lucky bastard!

If I paid you, do you think you could get me an autograph and furnish some visual proof with it? tounge.gif

I think he'd be an interesting guy to meet, set aside his fame and all that.

Is he close to his family still, or did he kind of ditch them like many (usually troubled) rockstars do?

Are you speaking of Ft. Lauderdale by the way?

The family isn't AS close but he's shown up before. Last time was around 3 years ago. And no, I'm speaking of Canton, Ohio. Look it up.

He is also a very VERY different man in person. Especially without the make-up, he looks completely different. Lol I go to the highshool he graduate from, too. Glenoak High School, look it up in his biographies too.
