M14a-Mclaren
I have this problem with my SA game kinda crashing but the game resumes, for example I notice that it happens when I'm redlining the along the road the game will go black, monitor clicks on and off a few times (changing resolution) and then the game resumes and i can continue playing, the annoying thing is, because I run SA at a lower resolution from my desktop it resets the desktop resolution to the same as the ingame res, i can also not alt tab out when its crashed for some reason which is real annoying when im trying to use GTA Admin Console. Systems specs P4 2.8 Asus P4P800 (latest bios) Radeon 9600XT 128mb(omega drivers 5.7, does it with ATI ones too)(not overclocked) 512mb Corsair RAM That should be all you need. cronusthetitan
WOW, you just quadruple posted. That's not the way to get the help you need. Most likely nobody knows how to fix your problem. I'll offer my suggestions: Problem 1: P4 2.8--- Pentium SUCKS!!! It has to work harder to decode the basic instructions to pentium can read it, then re-encode back to what the computer reads. Problem 2: Radeon 9600XT 128mb(omega drivers 5.7, does it with ATI ones too)(not overclocked)-- 128 is bare ass minimum for the game's requirements. Meaning it cannot operate optimally unless you upgrade to a bigger video card.-- My GTA didn't do what yours did, but my Black Hawk Down game did. I couldn't alt+tab out, and it would crash out when it became more than my card could handle. I upgraded to a 256 and it works great now. 512mb Corsair RAM-- Corsair is just another word for assisted cooling. The way Corsair is made, it keeps itself cooler, therefore running more efficiently. Having said taht, 512mb is nothing. NOTHING. Trust me, I ran it for a couple months in this pc and i couldn't do a lot. Throw at least another 256 in it and you'll be golden. My only other suggestion is to turn the resolution and draw distance down to lowest, or near lowest settings. This should help gameplay improve, but your pretty graphics will suffer. Hope I could help.
GTA3Freak-2001
Err a P4 2.8 is perfectly capable of playing the game especially since the games Recommended Requirements state so, also the ram on a GFX isn't the sole decider on if its good or not infact usually 256MB versions of most cards actually have slower clock speeds then the 128MB equivilents. SEEJAY123
Yea for real dude what is this guy talking about? this is GTA not DOOM3. I have a p4 1.8ghz, 256 mb 266 mhz, radeon 9250 PCI. Game runs smoothly at 1280x1024x32 with 4X draw distance.
M14a-Mclaren
Yea sorry about posting like that guys, frustration I guess. I agree I probably need to upgrade my system but I think this system should be able to run it, the P4 does suck but im poor and can't afford to buy a new AMD, I emailed Rockstar with my problems.
