AlienLX
Okay, so after playing the game for a few weeks with no issues, today it decided it didn't want to start. Double-click the game icon, nothing happens.. and nothing ever does. Strangely enough, I tried to start Vice City and GTA3 shortly after as well and both did the same exact thing. I hadn't messed with either of those in months though. Sometimes when I delete the settings file in the folder where your saves go, it fixes the problem and they will all start, sometimes not. What's the deal?
Dome Piece
Hmm....that is a strange one. Obviously you are having issues with running .exe's. Are you having any trouble running any other programs ? Virus maybe ? - Dome Piece
Mike0
Try to find out what have you changed on the PC (like installed software, uninstalled, anything) before it began making problems.
phant0mhax0r
Dude that same problem is happening to me, I double click on the gta_sa.exe and the cd icon comes up an then nothing. Counter-Strike still works but none of the gta games do. The last mod i downloaded before it crashed was the TRD Supra off GTAinside which extracts itself using an .exe. I really dont want to reinstall seening as all the trouble ive gone to mod the game. My system is: Ati Radeon 9700 the latest drivers. 756mb RAM 2.66ghz pentium 4 Windows Xp SP2 Ill try upgrading to 1.

hairy
Same problem here too. I only got the game yesterday and after install it played fine. On a number of occasions I closed the game, then ran it again successfully later on. The problem started this morning when I went to start the game. The CD cursor appears, the computer seems to be starting to run the program but then nothing - back to the normal cursor and no activity from my computer. I'm haven't added any mods / patches / whatever to the program since I've had it. Also I'm fairly certain that I haven't changed any settings / added or removed any programs on my computer in this time period either. I'm running: ATI 9700 Pro with the driver 6.14.0010.6476 (English) AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2800+ 512MB RAM Windows XP Sp 2 Any help would be massively appreciated! hairy
Sorry for the double post but: from other threads in this forum, removing "gta_sa.set" from the GTA San Andreas User Files folder in My Documents seemed like a possible solution. I tried it and it worked for me. Cheers, Hairy

AlienLX
Well, I didn't want to do it, but I reinstalled all 3 games and they all work perfectly fine now. I'm still not sure what exactly the problem was though. I'm assuming something became corrupted somehow, maybe? I am running on.. ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB (latest drivers) AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 512MB RAM Windows XP SP2
