Ok, well assuming you bought the game like a good Boy scout, then install the game as instructed by the installation program.

Download the vc-mp zip from the download link in this forum.

Using your zip extraction utility, or failing that, the default unzip program with Windows Xp, either extract all of the files to the VC directory (which should be C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City) or select all and copy the files in the zip folder and paste into the directory and clicking yes to any prompts about "do you want to replace this folder?".

Now, you must get your configuration right, to do this, go to your start menu, find rockstar games and click Play GTA Vice City, go to the options and change graphics, controls and sound to your liking then quit. Then, find a server on the vc-mp server list topic or try the wonderful VC:MP server browser found also in this forum, and either run the vc-mp client which is in the GTA VC folder and paste the ip and port info in the VC:MP client or double click the server in the VC:MP browser, then click launch game and Play!
