umm. the strangest thing happened:

 

a rustler landed on the boat taxied aroun the runway turn around and took off again omg . it was tootally biggrin.gif cool

i think that is MORE than impossible

idk, rustlers never land

not even when you're following an airborn one

 

but it sounds good

after i upgrade my RAM I'll d/l it for sure biggrin.gif

i'm managed to get the boat's accelaration 30 with the new handling line, but it's a bit buggy, when accelarating from a stand still, the boat will tilt a bit backwards and forwards when braking , but i'ts pretty fast now.

 

but the thing that annoys me is when u hit something or ram the boat at full speed on a beach, it bounces on land then spins around in the air real fast, get a dialog box saying loading please wait, and then if i manage i reload the game, if i don't the game dies. and somethimes it spins less faster and when the boat hits the ground i get wasted for nothing even though i am using pizzadox+27 trainer and having invinceble cars mode on wow.gif

Matthew1g - I know there's a lot of posts in this thread, but if you read the plans & current status for this mod, you will see that Cerbera is currently doin a tuned handling, and that we have spent a great deal of time working on similar symptoms to those you describe. The current release's major flaws will be corrected before the final - this is just a beta so you can try it out now really... things like the col file status etc are discussed earlier in the thread.

 

Thanks for the feedback though peoples, and rest assured I'll be working on it again, come the weekend. I just started a new job, so I've been taking it easy thru the week.

I have arrived at the conclusion that GTASA is totally, 100% f*cked up. When I make changes and reload the game, sometimes the changes take effect, sometimes they don't and sometimes the game seems to invent a whole new handling setup all by itself.

 

I realise that to figure out what all the boat settings did when applied to an object this large, I had to do small changes and make a note of what I did and what changed. Below is the history of what I have been trying over the past few days. The format of my notes is basically the setting with a plus (+) or minus (-) indicating if it was made bigger or smaller. When I changed more than one setting they are seperated by a comma (,) character. Later on, I started putting the actual value after the plus or minus character. The effect of the change is in curved brackets at the end of the line.

When I created that "Good" setup, the boat would gradually reach 50km/h and would turn gradually but it still rolled with the waves. When I try using that "Good" setup now, the boat flies around all over the place. I've spent so many hours trying to get GTASA to behave itself that I'm really fed up with it now.

 

If you read the history completely, you'll see that the effects caused by my changes make no sense at all. I change a setting and it goes mad, I change it back and it's still mad. I don't understand what the hell is going on...

Thanks heaps Cerbera - I had the same nightmares.. though I still feel the handling we both made parts of in beta 2 makes the best base I've tried so far... nice n slow until she gets goin, then a decent pace.

great job with the boat, though, i'm lovin it, and u were right, there are a lot more planes flying around than normal, and one crashed into my boat aswell

Edit: just used this boat again with the speedometer and touched something and to my surprise i saw that it caught 2975 km/h vertically... didn't get to print-screen but it's true: ~3000 km/h, it was major biggrin.gif

I was just thinking, some of you would call me crazy other's would agree.

 

How about we all send an Email to R* About this mod and the handling problem, maybe they will try to help us out, cus they said they would make San Andreas more modding compatible. I know it sounds weird asking them for help, but I'm sure they are following this topic step by step, since they also said that in the manual of the game

We do read the forums
So I think it's really worth the shot. They know exactly how the engine uses the handling files, even more then Cerbera(sorry for that mate) I bet R* thought about using this Carrier for the game or sumthing, so let's try.

Obviously R* would no more about the game engine than me, they are the folks who made it and never released any decent documentation for it! tounge.gif

 

It would be worth asking them because at worst, we'll all lose the time it took to write an Email. I think this is the most likely outcome because it's a mega global corporation, so they can't afford to pay someone to play with handling setups all day every day on behalf of some kids doing it for fun. Also, after Hot Coffee the decision makers in the company have sent a very strong signal that they want to distance themselves from the modding community. Add to that the fact that the v1.01 patch prevents nearly all the trainers and spawners and teleporters, it seems pretty clear that they don't care about their most loyal fans.

 

In the past, some of the developers at R* have been known to very slowly respond to questions put to them by the "proper" modders like Steve-M and Illspirit. They would probably ignore us but there is a chance that they may want to make a small gesture that they don't want to completely alienate us...

Yeah if you put it that way. Let it be clear, I never ment to insult you, your great with handling, Respect all the way. But I think it will be worth the shot. I just sended an email to them. Let's hope someone will take it serious. Maybe someone their already followed this topic in his spare time or sumthing, and the Hot Coffee thing was some thing much different, this is about handling a ship, not a girl tounge.gif

Cus what would happen if you would make the turnmass much higher? What could make the carrier ram truh waves better instead of them slowing it down? And what controls the steering effect, cus I never seen a carrier turning 180 degrees in 2 seconds.

Hmm, that sounds promising. Perhaps they actually have a secret cave where they send Emails for modding help. Or, it could just be a totally generic message which simply means they have received your Email.

If it goes mental for no reason. As in no matter how you fly it, it just goes mental. then you have yourself a Collision problem. I would suggest rebuilding the collision? I dunno if this is possible with SA though as I aint tried yet.

yes it could just be that the rear planes of the col file aren't insulated with spheres properly, since it only seems to happen when I reverse, but I plan to work on this over the weekend, so we'll see how I go.

@NSX: Yeah, it is weird, but the Max Height limit has only been there for planes [and helis] since GTA3 I believe. catspider.gif
