I think I will sail it well into sea, then take of in a Hydra, causing havoc all around the state, and tell flying back to the Carrier lol.giftounge.gif Would be cool if there was a saving point on-board, just like some other guys said.

My plans

1.Have 3 Hydras on the deck

2. have at least 3,or 4 Chinooks

3.have a load of SWAT APCs(for amphibious landings)

Sorry it's taking so long, but I have been working on it pretty much all my waking hours... the col file is proving to take quite some time, with a huge amount of testing being required at each step, as things appear to go strange if I'm not checking myself regularly.

 

I hope to release a beta today... sadly without the ability to land on it with planes. To accomplish this, we will need a handling edit, which I am hoping someone out there has the skillz to correct - at this stage the vehicle is very light, and I feel just upping it's weight should allow for landings.

 

Stay tuned hopefully for an update today with a beta release including stairwells to all 3 levels and a collision file that allows you to walk on all key surfaces and hit all key walls.

 

For those still perplexing over the time this is taking, please keep in mind that in order to produce working collision data, I am basically having to remodel the entire ship's surfaces selectively, then ensure that CJ can walk smoothly over these invisible surfaces.

No landings unfortunately in the beta, until someone helps me fix the handling.. have finished the stairwells - every wall in there has collision data now.

 

At the moment I'm doing all the corridors and walls on the lower levels.. wont be long.

REPOST OF FIRST POST TO EMPHASISE RELEASE OF BETA:

I don't usually post WIPs.... I'd rather save the surprise for the release, but this one's so obvious a necessity, I was scared someone would take the idea while I was working on it, so here goes..

Easter Bay Aircraft Carrier tropic replacement boat.

 

Done so far:

I've sweetened up the handling, tuned the col file so you can run along the entire top deck, placed the map parts using the map ipl so they line up perfectly, and managed to keep the texture and models identical to those in the map objects.. even the distance model is at full pollies so it doesn't look crap when you back up a bit on the camera (thanks to Racer_S for camhack cookie.gif).

 

To do:

Import the pipes, missiles and boxes into the hirez model... although the interior of the ship is all there, at this stage it's very empty - I already have all the parts, but wanted to see how she ran before I started loading them in.

 

Finish off the col file - I hear Steve-m will shortly release a new col editor.... although I have been using mostly Kam's col/io, which is included with the dff filters we all know & love - the great part with col/io is that you can overlay the col objects over the model to get it all lined up (man I wish I could just get the col data from the map objects).

 

Place the dummies better. At this stage he sits in the stairway, which isn't his home for the final... I was thinking it'd be cute if he sat on a beanbag in front of a games console inside the ship as an alternative to the bridge, which is empty/not modelled inside.

 

Add ambient light... I removed the omni-lighting from the model deliberately while I was getting everything together so I could better see the model... this will be made more realistic for the final release.

 

ETA:

I'm taking this one slower than usual, trying to make it as perfect as it deserves... I feel this would make a great battleground for multiplayer (modding) servers. Expect up to a month for release (or as little as maybe a week), but the time taken will be well spent.
