The GTA modding scene lived ages with the fact, that you have to start a new game even if you make a very very small change to the code, like autopass a mission you can't beat or give you some little extra.

 

Now, with Darkpact, this is possible! And even more, you can add cool mods (not only a codeline) to your SCM and continue playing your previous game with this mod / these mods.

 

Thats a revolution and we should be very happy that Demarst figured this trick out and made it possible for us.

 

It's sad that some bigger mods cant use this possibility, but we cant complain about that. Really, we cant sigh.gif

 

Further, for bigger mods I think its more than ok that you have to start a new game. It's like you finish the game with original code and stuff.

Then you spend your time to get all your favourite mods together, maybe write some own mods, put these in the code and finish the game with all these, your favourite, mods.

i just finished the mission "Sweet & Kendl" and seen that the garage really works

anyway, this darkpact is really good and demarest probly got some stars for it... or he should

Thats (I think) the first really working garage for SA. Though, I'm working on an optimized version of that code as there are lots of unneccesary codelines I found out.

I've given up on Darkpact and just started a new game

I used the code that was displayed on page 8 of the Save Garage Creation thread

@Demarest: i have first compiled darkpactv1.txt with my thread added to it after changing the define memory back to its original value. i loaded my good ol' savegame in SA. it worked, and asked me to save. i saved into a different slot, then put the original main.scm with my thread at the end. i loaded the savegame that i just made using the darkpact scm, and it crashed. using the original save works but the thread does not run.

either i'm really misunderstanding something (again) or your instructions are confusing. smile.gif

@KungFu: I had a mod I made for VC called Armor All. Among other things, the mod made just the car you were driving everything proof, and would right you if you ever flipped. dem0njoe converted it to SA just this morning and it is very Darkpactable. ALL the ones you linked though are mods that require you to replace your main.scm with theirs. So I say again: ANY mod requireing you to replace the main.scm is a CODE mod and cannot be inserted with Darkpact. The parked cars and weapons pickups of Grove 4 Life could be added, but the parked cars would be simulated and not traditional generators. Point being that instead of 2 lines per car, it would be quite a few more altogether. Oh, and Darkpact's release version works with original code. Since you seem to enjoy the code mods, your saves with them aren't Darkpactable to begin with though. The process is transferable, but the amount of times I've had to say the same thing leads me to believe it would be out of your scope. Don't take offense to that because bytecounting is a technique I'd say only about a dozen or so people here can do, with only maybe half of them regularly doing so.

 

@Gell: Sounds like you did everything right. I'm assuming that your main.scm+yourmod does NOT have a create_thread line for your mod? Please host a ZIP of the TXT files you used both before and after and I'll look into it.

nope, the original scm with my mod in it doesn't have a create_thread. here is the darkpactor's code. i can't give you the "after" code as it weighs about 26 megabytes, but the only thing that i've added to it (to the very, very end) is the HELIMG thread which is also in the darkpactor.

26MB? I thought that the original scm when decompiled is around 15MB, and if you zip it it will be much less.

You want to add your thread code just before mission 0, not at the very end after all the externals.

Code goes before mission 0in both scms, create_thread goes in just the darkpactor in the create_thread section of mission 0.

no offense takin... i thought they where script mods even on the site i found them it s under the script mods section.... oh well i give up then lol can i atleast have that armor all mod and the robbing stores one then? id be satisfied with those two

Well yeah--generically speaking--ALL editing of the SCM can be called script mods, SCM mods, code mods, mission coding, etc. As far as Darkpact is concerned, you have to go with Darkpact's definition of a script mod, which IS something we've been over a few times.

 

And I think random put his finger on where Gell went wrong.

@KungFuJebus: technically you would be able to use darkpact for any scm mod that is contained within a thread including combining mods, provided you don't exceed the define memory or the MAIN section size limits. If the mods you want have the source provided, then making them work with your old save games is easy. If all that is in the mod is a "main.scm" file and you are supposed to just replace the existing file with htis new one, it IS possible to use darkpact with it as long as it is just a thread, but it is harder than if there is source. Most mods come with source included anyway.

However, it would make sense if future mods had a darkpact version included, so you don't have to go through the whole process of adding the threads into the scm and then recompiling.

As a precursor to Ancestral Recall GTA3, Darkpact for GTA3 has been released. As a maiden voyage, Coordinator for GTA3 has also been given a Darkpactor.

You didnt read the topic which I linked to.

The topic here is old version of Darkpact.

Demarest and Y_Less created a new Version

DARKPACT level III San Andreas

which dont need to laod and save the Darkpact injector main and change then to the final darkpactmain.

Just create one Darkpactmain and use it to load and play savegames.

Well didnt know demarest was nubbel? dozingoff.gif , I am new here and didnt know i shouldn't ask for a mod if it was someone YOU didn't like! and for a angry.gif sign for asking makes a kid really think you not wanting anyone on this site. it's a good way to run people off, good job there.
