Svip
Well, well. Windows is probably bad because of a few things. However, I think I'm over the complete hatred of Windows. And perhaps, I think I wouldn't come rant/rebel about how much Windows sucks. Personal, I hate it or at least dislike it very much. But I must admit, I am sick and tired of all this idiots who can't figure out how to use Windows. I mean it's the simplist OS for newbs. Unlike Linux that requires a bit of reading, asking and understand before you can make it through the day. Windows is simply a simple OS, that just happened to be A. the most used OS, B. a very buggy structure OS and C. having an extremely stupid price. So yeah, Windows might suck, but I've stopped telling people to switch, cause I don't really see the need. Your Windows desktop is working? Well ain't you happy? I thought so. Why fix something that ain't broken? And I would only suggest you switching to Linux if you don't want to play games and such. Though some games works under WINE/WineX/CeDega, you shouldn't count on it. I personal have to disagree with the opinion that Windows is the only suitable OS for a desktop, MacOS X is probably a better OS and a better desktop OS, and Linux is quickly catching up, along with *BSD. Devyl
I've used many many MANY different OS's throughout my life... Pretty much the whole windows line, as well as Redhat, Mandrake, Unix, and so on. The only reason I run Windows as my current OS is because: A) I use XP Pro. a LOT more stable than the home edition. B) I have plenty of PC power, so I never run into memory erros or BSOD's or other problems that I don't create myself. C) Even though Linux is WAY more flexible for my needs and tastes than Windows is, there are times i'm just a lazy computer user who enjoys simply double clicking instead of running tarballs and so forth. (I still have Mandrake 10.1 on a 20 gig partition though) D) All the gadgets and gizmos I have around my PC are more compatible in Windows than any other OS. Things I DON'T like about Windows: It isn't as flexible as it should be for us power users. I don't like having to alt-ctrl-del a non-responsive program about 5 times before Windows gets the hint that I need it shut down.
G twenty-nine
A. Windows API is annoying as hell. B. Generally bad for programmers (no socket.h, syscalls.h, nothing!) C. Linux is easier to use, for me. D. The non-sense that is, "typing su and your password to install a program is real hard" Uh, yeah, I suppose that's it... NONA
2. Windows can basically delete anything it damn well feels like. for example, my firefox bookmarks, so I am forced to back them up in a bookmarks.html file, hidden deep on my hard drive, my memory stick, and my floppy disk, away from gates' prying eyes. Same here ! Beside that I didn't encounter any problems with windows yet.

NeoSNightmarE
i use linux and ive noticed quite a few things that have been better than windows or even back when i used redhat. they are as follows: -theres a crapload of more customizability on linux than on windows. you can literally change anything that you please. i mean, you can make the entire windows for the programs transparent if you wanted to. -the computer runs alot faster and more efficiently than on windows -not having to worry about spyware like on windows. -the commandline is good for when you want to set something out which is something that XP was lacking. everything was GUI and that can be bad sometimes -knowing that microsh*t isnt running checks on you or anything like that -having a good feeling knowing that basically all the programs that you use are open source -not having to search the internet for programs and just entering a command and getting whatever program i need thats about it without going into political issues i have with windows and especially microsh*t. EmSixTeen
pfff Windows sux, mine never crashes, but sometimes it restarts for no reason, then saying "Windows has recovered from an error", thats ugh, stupid That's a setting in XP, by default it does a hard reset and shows that error instead of having a BSOD.
